Mar. 2011 Governor’s Monthly Letter RI District 3190 Coming together to give health and happiness Dear Rotary Leaders, Ann. Srimathi and I convey our warm greetings to you and your family. I am glad to note that our clubs continue to do an excellent job in BUILDING COMMUNITIES through the various projects. So far it has been a very eventful year and the credit should go to all the clubs. The 100th eye camp organised at NAGAMANGALA was a very good programme and I am glad to inform you that it was their 10th year successfully completing 100 eye camps. The response was overwhelming. I congratulate Nagamangala club for this. Keep it up. By the end of March 2011, 95% of our GOV's completed. The GOVs were an interesting experience to me and it was an opportunity to meet all the Rotarians and have one to one discussion with them. It also gave me an insight into the various projects taken up by our clubs and the benefit derived BY THE COMMUNITY. The IRELAND NITE organised in March continued our efforts in BRIDGING CONTINENTS. We have some more international nites to follow in the succeeding months. The Rotaract District Conference went off very well and the deliberations at the conference focused on the needs of the new generation. Dear Rotary Leaders,

Ann. Srimathi and I convey our warm greetings to you and your family.

I am glad to note that our clubs continue to do an excellent job in BUILDING COMMUNITIES through the various projects. So far it has been a very eventful year and the credit should go to all the clubs.

The 100th eye camp organised at NAGAMANGALA was a very good programme and I am glad to inform you that it was their 10th year successfully completing 100 eye camps. The response was overwhelming. I congratulate Nagamangala club for this. Keep it up.

By the end of March 2011, 95% of our GOV's completed. The GOVs were an interesting experience to me and it was an opportunity to meet all the Rotarians and have one to one discussion with them. It also gave me an insight into the various projects taken up by our clubs and the benefit derived BY THE COMMUNITY.

The IRELAND NITE organised in March continued our efforts in BRIDGING CONTINENTS. We have some more international nites to follow in the succeeding months.

The Rotaract District Conference went off very well and the deliberations at the conference focused on the needs of the new generation. I congratulate the new generation district team and the Rotaractors.

DGE Pandurang Potnis is planning the year ahead very well. The training programmes for the incoming leaders have started and the ones which are completed have gone well.

I was happy when several Rotarians came forward to contribute to TRF. I appeal to such of those Rotarians who have made the commitment to kindly honour the commitment and make the payment. I am to request Rotarians to strengthen the TRF through their contributions.

This year we have started several matching grant projects. They are progressing well. My request is that please complete these projects by the end of this rotary year.

Time has come to finalise on District Awards. I once again request such of those clubs who are yet to send the details may please to do so immediately.

Rotary Bangalore NorthWest : In association with RB Rajajinagar conducted many sports & cultural competitions at Seva Samaja Upgraded Primary School, children of construction workers.

Rotary Bangalore RR Nagar Centennial : On the occasion of Women's Day, conducted health check- up camp at St. Martin School, Magadi Road, for teachers and parents.Screened around 350 persons. Sagar Hospital has lent their co-operation.

Rotary Bangalore South : Completed Toilet project near Vijayapura.

Rotary Bangalore Yelahanka: Celebrated Late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's 34th Birthday at Sandeep Unnikr ishnan Square, Yelahanka.

Rotary Club of Punganur Central : Conducted blood donation camp with the help of Red Cross Society, Chittoor, and collected 39 units.

Rotary Bangalore Rajajinagar: Organised a trip to Wonder La, for the children of Deena Sevashrama School, who are called as God's children.

Rotary Club of Bangalore : Organized Rotosport for the Govt. School children at Sakalavara and more than 200 children participated.

Rotary Bangalore Cubbonpark : Continued support of supplying food & medicines to Flagship project Sai Vrindhavan.

International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March, with visit to Huttings School, distribution of gifts to the underpr iv i leged women & chocolates & sweets to the school children was given & a dance program for Annes, followed by Lunch. 50 Annes participated.

Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar :

Rotary Bangalore Hanumantha nagar : Blood Donation Camp was held in Jayanagar & 68 units of Blood was collected.

Rotary club of Nagarabhavi: Distributed UV Water filters to Govt. Lower Primary School at Eeranapalya.

Rotary Bangalore Health City : Celebrated Holi on March 20, 2011, at BITS Club, at Kothanur, Hennur and about 15 members with their family participated.

Conducted an eye check-up camp at Government Hospital, Satnur. In this camp 166 patients were screened. 61 patients were identified for operation and operated successfully.

Rotary Bangalore Vijayanagar :

Rotary Club of Mandya : Organised Asthma check-up camp at Rotary School, Mandya, in association with CIPLA and about 208 patients were examined by Specialist Doctors.

On Sunday, 27th March 2011, keeping in line with the theme for 2010-11 of ‘Bui lding C o m m u n i t i e s B r i d g i n g Continents’, RCB Koramangala along with fellow Clubs Rotary Knowledge City, National Park, Southeast and Kengeri Upanagara celebrated Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day. The event was held at Koramangala Club.

Ms. Monica Robinson from the office of Honorary Consul General of Ireland in Bangalore was most helpful in sending out invites to the Irish Community in Bangalore. DGE Pandurang Potnis was the Chief Guest.

The Irish community was represented by Mr. & Mrs. Diarmaid, Dr. Shabeer and Mr. Venkatesh. They were given the traditional welcome of flower garlands and tilak by Ann. Anu Biswas and Ann

Meena Bengeri.

The event commenced with a lovely invocation rendered by

Ann. Bhuvana.

ROTARY IRELAND DAY DELEBRATION

President Chandrakumar spoke on the “Light for Education’, a solar light project undertaken by RCBK.

Address by DGE Potnis congratulating RCBK on a nice event conducted to foster the theme ‘Building Communities Bridging Continents’.

Apart from the loads of fun and jokes from the entertaining duo of Rtn Gopal and Rtn Samir who also came up with a game of ‘BINGO’ using symbols associated with Ireland. Each symbol and its significance in Ireland were explained before the start of the game.

The event ended with Cocktails and dinner. The event was attended by a p p r o x i m a t e l y 6 0 R o t a r i a n s . Congratulations to District International Services Director Rtn Kiran Boal and RCBK International Services Director, Rtn. Abhik Biswas.

I have been moving with the Governor on all his Rotary engagements. I am really delighted to witness the activities and programs. On an empathetic attitude, I can imagine the satisfaction of the needy in our efforts to BUILD COMMUNITY.

I look forward to my accompanying the Governor to USA and in particular, to District5100 who are our GSE partners and also our matching grant partners. This would provide me an opportunity to foster our links and BRDGE CONTINENTS. This would be a memorable experience.

AG's Training 2011-12

The 33rd Rotaract District Conference, ‘Odyssey: The Journey of Celebrating Rotaract’ was held on Sunday, March 13th 2011 at Mahaveer Jain College, Bangalore. More than 450 rotaractors were present for the conference which was a record number in many years. The Conference was inaugurated by Mr. Ferose V.R, Managing Director, SAP Labs India, amidst the presence of District Governor Rtn. M.N. Suresh, DRR Rtr. Giri Chittur and Dist Conference Chair Rtr. Asha Sharath. The Keynote address was delivered by Mr. Rajan Parulekar. He spoke on “Emotional Intelligence – How relevant it is in managing self”.

‘ODYSSEY’–Rotaract District ConferenceThe celebrations began af ter the p r o f e s s i o n a l sessions. This year, the Rotaract District f e l i c i t a t e d t h e PDRR's who have contributed to the R o t a r a c t

movement. A video showcasing their significant projects was shown to the rotaractors.

The 2nd half of the day was a time for the clubs to display their projects through Club Roll Call. Different Clubs showcased what they had done throughout the year. It was nice to see some of the innovative projects that clubs had done. The conference ended with telematches which had different competitions for the clubs. The conference was co-hosted by Rotaract Clubs of Bangalore, Indiranagar, Jayanagar, Southwest and Rotaract of Jain College.

Asst. Governor's Training Seminar 2011-12 was held at Hotel Fortune (Whitefied) on 5th and 6th March 2011. The in-house programme of two days saw the AG's team, most of them with their Spouse, in a highly charged mood. The session commenced with a traditional inauguration in the presence of DG. M.N. Suresh along with DGE. Potnis and IPDG. Nagendra with PDG. Venugopal Govind (RI Dist. 3201) as chief guest.

The session's followed involved discussion on 'Roles & Responsibility', 'Working with the Clubs ' and 'Membership-importance' handled by

PDG's. S.K. Nagendra , S.R. Yogananda and Rtn. PP. H.R. Ananth.

Second and concluding day p r o g r a m m e c o m m e n c e d w i t h discussion on 'Embracing Humanity. The presentation by Ms. Aarathi, a GSE scholar, kept the participant awe stuck with her flow of thoughts and she mesmerized the session. The subjects on 'Resources', 'TRF Goals – An overview', 'GOV & Installations- role of an AG' and 'Coordination & Cooperation' by PDG's. U.B. Bhat, Rajendra Rai, Rtn. PP. Vimala Mallappa and Rtn. Flt. Lt. K.P. Nagesh. DGN. Badri Prasad did the impressions at the end and this served as a summing up of the deliberations.

Rotary Bangalore Jayanagar organized a six-days Mega Blood donation camp, inaugurated by the District Governor MN Suresh in the presence of Jayanagar MLA Sri. B.N. Vijayakumar and cine actors Srinath and Shuba poonja.

267 units of blood were collected on first day (from Hotel Employees Association Members), 87 units were collected at Sree Ram Temple premises at Banasavadi (in association with Rotory Bangalore DownTown), 167 units were collected at Koramangala club (in association with Rotary Bangalore Koramangala), 149 units were collected at Rajajinagar (in association with Rotary Bangalore North), 170 units were collected at Mahalaxmi Mandira in Seshadripuram, ………. units were collected at Gayana Samaja on the final day, with Ministers Sri Suresh Kumar, Sri Bachche Gowda and film actor Pooja Gandhi were present

PT Kasturi Memorial Tennis, the District 3190 annual Tennis event, was conducted on Sunday, March 13th @ KSLTA Tennis Stadium, Cubbon Park. 8 teams participated including players from Tumkur & Channapatna.

The 100th eye camp organised at NAGAMANGALA was a very good programme and I am glad to inform you that it was their 10th year successfully completing 100 eye camps. The response was overwhelming. I congratulate Nagamangala club for this. Keep it up.

By the end of March 2011, 95% of our GOV's completed. The GOVs were an interesting experience to me and it was an opportunity to meet all the Rotarians and have one to one discussion with them. It also gave me an insight into the various projects taken up by our clubs and the benefit derived BY THE COMMUNITY.

The IRELAND NITE organised in March continued our efforts in BRIDGING CONTINENTS. We have some more international nites to follow in the succeeding months.

The Rotaract District Conference went off very well and the deliberations at the conference focused on the needs of the new generation. I congratulate the new generation district team and the Rotaractors.

DGE Pandurang Potnis is planning the year ahead very well. The training programmes for the incoming leaders have started and the ones which are completed have gone well.

I was happy when several Rotarians came forward to contribute to TRF. I appeal to such of those Rotarians who have made the commitment to kindly honour the commitment and make the payment. I am to request Rotarians to strengthen the TRF through their contributions.

This year we have started several matching grant projects. They are progressing well. My request is that please complete these projects by the end of this rotary year.

Time has come to finalise on District Awards. I once again request such of those clubs who are yet to send the details may please to do so immediately.

Rotary Bangalore NorthWest : In association with RB Rajajinagar conducted many sports & cultural competitions at Seva Samaja Upgraded Primary School, children of construction workers.

Rotary Bangalore RR Nagar Centennial : On the occasion of Women's Day, conducted health check- up camp at St. Martin School, Magadi Road, for teachers and parents.Screened around 350 persons. Sagar Hospital has lent their co-operation.

Rotary Bangalore South : Completed Toilet project near Vijayapura.

Rotary Bangalore Yelahanka: Celebrated Late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's 34th Birthday at Sandeep Unnikr ishnan Square, Yelahanka.

Rotary Club of Punganur Central : Conducted blood donation camp with the help of Red Cross Society, Chittoor, and collected 39 units.

Rotary Bangalore Rajajinagar: Organised a trip to Wonder La, for the children of Deena Sevashrama School, who are called as God's children.

Rotary Club of Bangalore : Organized Rotosport for the Govt. School children at Sakalavara and more than 200 children participated.

Rotary Bangalore Cubbonpark : Continued support of supplying food & medicines to Flagship project Sai Vrindhavan.

International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March, with visit to Huttings School, distribution of gifts to the underpr iv i leged women & chocolates & sweets to the school children was given & a dance program for Annes, followed by Lunch. 50 Annes participated.

Rotary Bangalore Hanumantha nagar : Blood Donation Camp was held in Jayanagar & 68 units of Blood was collected.

Rotary club of Nagarabhavi: Distributed UV Water filters to Govt. Lower Primary School at Eeranapalya.

Rotary Bangalore Health City : Celebrated Holi on March 20, 2011, at BITS Club, at Kothanur, Hennur and about 15 members with their family participated.

Conducted an eye check-up camp at Government Hospital, Satnur. In this camp 166 patients were screened. 61 patients were identified for operation and operated successfully.

Rotary Club of Mandya : Organised Asthma check-up camp at Rotary School, Mandya, in association with CIPLA and about 208 patients were examined by Specialist Doctors.
