RIT-STRUCTA arranged an Industrial visit for the

II year students of Civil Engineering to Vaigai Dam

in Madurai on January 22, 2015. The students then

visited the Water Treatment Plant at Pannaipatti.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering

organized a guest lecture on “Engineering Design”

on February 03, 2015 for II year Mechanical

students. Dr.Raghu V Prakash, Professor, Machine

Design, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT

Madras, Chennai was the resource person. He

explained the role and impact of various design

software in Automobile, Aerospace and process

industries with valid real-time case studies.

The Department of ECE organized a one day

Industrial Visit to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre-

ISRO, Thiruvananthapuram, for 67 students of II

year ECE on February 06, 2015. The students

gained basic knowledge of the Communication

field. They learnt about the development of satellite

launch vehicles and distinct technology domains to

achieve a high-tech realm of vehicles technology.

Visit to VSSC – ISRO Thiruvananthapuram

The Department of ECE organized a One day

Industrial Visit to Ramco Spinners Limited,

Visit to Ramco Spinners Limited, Rajapalayam.

Rajapalayam for 105 students on February 07,

2015.They were exposed to one of the world’s best

machinery and sophisticated electronic instruments

for high quality combed cotton yarn of 60s, 30s, 20s

and 16s count for export to Europe, South East Asia

and Japan. The mill has a total capacity of 43,296.

The Department of EEE conducted a Workshop on

“PLC Course” on February 16, 2015.

Mr.G.Raghuramraja, Lead Engineer, Stonehat

Technologies Coimbatore delivered a lecture on

PLC basics, Architecture, system, input,

programming, basic ON/OFF control using switch

or sensor, concepts of timer and counter, PLC

output, Data flow and Scan process.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering

conducted workshop on Programmable Logic

Controllers (PLC) on February 18, 2015 to all the II

Year Mechanical Engineering students.

Technologies, Coimbatore was the resource person.

In this workshop, the resource person highlighted

the real time PLC applications in various

Mechatronics systems.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering

arranged a one-day industrial visit for I year

Mechanical Students to “The Ramco Cements Ltd”,

Virudhunagar, on February 20, 2015. It provided a

good industrial exposure to the students. Mr.J.Jerold

John Britto, AP/Mech., and Mrs.R.Kalaivani,

AP/Mech., Class Advisors, coordinated and

accompanied the students. The detailed report of the

industrial visit was prepared and submitted by the

Class Representatives and the Class Advisors.
