(RTRS) LOS ANGELES: Monterey Media has acquired North American distribution rights to the indie drama “Memoria,” star- ring James Franco, Sam Dillon and Thomas Mann. “Memoria” had its world premiere Sunday at the Austin Film Festival. Monterey Media plans to release the film next year. The film is based on the short story by Franco. “Memoria” was written and directed by Nina Ljeti and Vladimir de Fontenay, and produced by Rabbit Bandini Productions and Burn Later Productions with the Art of Elysium. “Memoria” is the second film in Monterey’s release lineup produced by the Art of Elysium and Rabbit Bandini Productions, following “Yosemite.” All of the funds from these films go to the Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization which supports and encourages bringing the arts to hospitalized youth, elders and the homeless community. (RTRS) LOS ANGELES: Carrie Fisher is shar- ing her years of accumulated “Star Wars” wisdom with her new “Force Awakens” co-star Daisy Ridley, including a sage piece of advice about potentially sexist costume choices. “You should fight for your outfit,” Fisher said in an interview between her- self and Ridley for Interview Magazine. “Don’t be a slave like I was.” “All right, I’ll fight,” Ridley agreed. “You keep fighting against that slave outfit,” Fisher insisted. She also warned Ridley, “it’s hard to date once you’re a big ‘Star Wars’ star because you don’t want to give people the ability to say, ‘I had sex with Princess Leia.’” The costume discussion was prompted by Fisher warning Ridley that her life will change once “The Force Awakens” hits theaters: “You’re going to have people have fantasies about you! Media is teaming with Taipei-based Hualien Media and Mission Control Entertainment on development of “Arch Alien” as an action franchise. Lee and the companies announced the producing alliance last Friday. Ralph Hemecker will direct from a script he co- wrote with Bill Macdonald. Plot details are being kept under wraps. The project was unveiled in advance of Lee’s annual Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles. Principal photography is set to start on March 7 with shooting taking place in the US and China. Hualien Media will fully finance the film, with Marcus Morton producing. Hualien Media’s George Hsieh, Brandon Millan, Gill Champion and Sam Frankel are executive producing. You, Goethe,” above, in line with its strategy to find universal mainstream pics worldwide, and adapt them to Hispanic auds. Shooting in Spanish in Mexico for an esti- mated $3 million, the comedy is a Pantelion production with Germany’s Constantin Films, which co-produced the original. (RTRS) LOS ANGELES: Get ready to head back to Wonderland — or to fall back into it. Disney released a new short teaser for the upcoming “Alice Through the Looking Glass” on its social media accounts Sunday, showing the first look at the live-action follow-up to “Alice in Wonderland.” In it, Mia Wasikowska as the titular heroine stumbles out of a door in the sky. “It’s time to go back,” teases the clip. Wasikowska will star along with return- ing cast members Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans are also joining the franchise as Time and the Mad Hatter’s father, respectively.
