KU president congratulates teachers, students Kuwait, US seek closer civil aviation cooperation: DGCA Kuwaiti, Italian officials discuss prep for economic forum KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12, (KUNA): The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) affirmed Tuesday keenness to boost cooperation ties with US civil aviation authorities. Kuwait seeks to benefit from the US experience in airports management, DGCA’s Director General Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said, cited by a DGCA’s state- ment. Sheikh Salman made his remarks after meeting earlier with Carl Burleson, Deputy Assistant Administrator of Policy, International Affairs, and Environment at the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in Washington DC. He reiterated DGCA’s aspiration to bolster joint cooperation with FAA, wishing that US civil aviation bodies can overcome hazards of the ongoing hurricanes in their country. For his part, Burleson expressed his joy towards outcomes of talks with the Kuwaiti delegation, indi- cating that it is FAA’s first ever high-level meeting with DGCA. He wished for further joint coop- ‘Theatrical Comedy Nights’ festival kicks off KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12, (KUNA): The second edition of the “Theatrical Comedy Nights” festi- val kicked off Monday evening in memory of the late artists Abdulhussain Abdulredha and Mohammad Al-Roshoud, who left their clear mark on the Comedy Theater. In the festival, the Gulf Theater Band presented comedic works of the distinguished writer Mohammed Al-Roshoud at Dasma Theater. The National Council for Culture, Art and Letters (NCCAL)’s Assistant Secretary- General for the Arts Sector and festival’s higher Committee Chairman Dr Bader Al-Duweesh said in his speech during the opening that the festival chose the comedian Tareq Al-Ali as the festival personality for this year for his rich artistic career. He pointed out that NCCAL represents the main incubator for artistic, cultural, and literary cre- ativity, adding that it is keen on organizing theatre and artistic events, such as Kuwait Theater Festival, which has become one of the most important theater fes- tivals in the Arab world. For his part, the festival direc- tor Abdulkarim Al-Hajri said that this year’s festival presents the creations of the Kuwaiti comedy theater, indicating an approach to blend comedian theatrical works with constructive and edu- cational messages. Sheikh Ali and Pietro Paolo Rampino, Italian Vice-President of the Chamber, discussed deepening of economic relations between Italy and Kuwait within the Chamber, Kuwait Embassy said in a state- ment. Sheikh Ali reiterated keenness to promote mutual investment, as well as encouraging meetings between Italian and Kuwaiti businessmen, it said. Kuwait University President Professor Hussein Al-Ansari in a recent tour of Kaifan and Shuwaikh cam- puses congratulated the teachers and students for the new academic year 2017/2018. Al-Ansari listened to the viewpoints of students about completing their schedules and other obstacles such as blocked sections. He stressed the university admin- istration’s keenness to remove all obstacles while find- ing lasting solution to the issue of blocked sections in some specializations. He thanked deans, the assistant deans, employees of the counseling and guidance offices, as well as lan- guages center employees for receiving the new stu- dents.
