BRIEF SUMMARY: Briefly describe the problem and solution for the project or program.

Affordable rental housing for seniors is a high priority need in Bergen County. Teaneck Senior Housing project consists of 61 units of affordable rental housing for independent senior citizens on what was once an empty lot in Teaneck, New Jersey. The project increased the supply of affordable senior rental housing in Bergen County where demand for such housing is very high. Many seniors cannot afford to pay Bergen County’s market rents, are retired and living on a fixed income.

RESULTS: Construction of 61 affordable, 1BR senior housing units. Tenants have access to an array of support services that will enhance daily life and support aging in place. An optional dining program will is available for tenants who wish to dine with others on occasion or on a regular basis. Physicians will be available for health screenings and monitoring on site. For tenants who prefer to see doctors in the community, assistance with arranging transportation will be offered.

Tenants will be assisted in accessing recreational activities within the community as well as offered programming on site.
