LEARNING ENGLISH PRESENT PERFECT TENSES

An Elevator Talk

Running into Professor Klopfer in an elevator at MIT…. I couldn’t resist taking a selfie with him…We were both on 3rd floor heading to 13th floor… Amazing opportunity to talk to him about my Elevator Pitch…

[Elaine Matthews] “Professor Klopfer! How you doin’?” (REACHING OUT MY RIGHT HAND AND SHAKING HANDS WITH PROFESSOR KLOPFER)

[Professor Klopfer] “Fine, Elaine. What ‘bout you? Still working on your problem pitch?” (SHAKING HANDS WITH ME)

[Elaine Matthews] “I’m ok, too. Oh, yeah. You know how most Brazilian students have difficulty in learning English Present Perfect Tenses, how they rarely review what they have learned and how bored they get when learning that grammar point?”

[Professor Klopfer] “Yeah…uh…I’ve heard of something related to that. I’ve got a Brazilian friend…you know. But what are you doing to help those students?”

[Elaine Matthews] “Well, what I’ve been doing over the last 10 years of English teaching is help those students have fun learning that grammar point by ensuring they learn it with fun and in an efficient and effective way.

[Professor Klopfer] “That’s really kind of you! Those students must love your way of teaching Present perfect like this. Do those students engage in their learning experiences actively?”

[Elaine Matthews] “For sure they do. Almost 90% of them have learned this grammar point efficiently and effectively. Almost 70% of them have gotten a TOEFL certificate and have been studying in American colleges.

[Professor Klopfer] “Wow! Congrats for the project! I’d like you to submit it to me through the EDTechX forums so I can take a better look at it. Ok?”

[Elaine Matthews] “Ok, Professor. Count on that. Well, we’ve reached our floor. Nice talking to you. See ya later!”

[Professor Klopfer] “The same, Elaine. See ya. Bye-bye.”

[Elaine Matthews] “See ya. Bye-Bye.”

Professor Klopfer takes the right hall and I take the left hall.

The talk was as fast as the way Professor Klopfer usually speaks in his videos.

So we had enough time for that talk.
