Our children are the most precious resource of our community and we need to nurture them by providing them with the very best education possible. At Linwood North School, education is a living partnership in which our parents and the school work closely together to ensure that our young children are able to become confident, caring and capable citizens of the 21st Century.

At Linwood North School we offer a vibrant, innovative, yet rigorous education based in Literacy , Numeracy and eLearning. Our shared mission of ʻFocused Learning Achieving Excellenceʼ is weaved into our Teaching as Inquiryʼ Learning Model. The vision of the Linwood North School community, ʻLearning to take us Places…ʼ is based on our core values of ʻRespect and Responsibilityʼ that permeate through all our curriculum programmes. Our students develop a love of learning that ensures they have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to cope with a rapidly changing and sometimes challenging world.

We encourage every student to develop and enhance their individual talents and we support them in a very special, friendly and caring environment.

The relationship between school and home is critical and nurtured by our school. Parents are always welcome at Linwood North. Their thoughts and ideas are valued and this partnership is essential for each one of our students to reach their full potential. We encourage all families to become fully involved with our school community and the daily life of the school.

We are very proud of the achievements of our past and present students. Linwood North School is unique - it has a proud tradition of over 100 years of outstanding leadership and dedicated loyal staff committed to providing an excellent education to the children of the North Linwood community. We can look past to the past with appreciation where the spirit of the school was embodied in the ʻenterpriseʼ and Linwood North was a school ʻproviding quality education where children come firstʼ. We can look forward to the future where our school is recognized nationally as ʻa school of enterprise, innovation and a leader in eLearningʼ. We offer not only an outstanding academic programme but an exciting curriculum, both in and beyond the classroom, with various Music, Drama Dance, Arts, Cultural and Sporting opportunities that ensure the successful education of the whole child.

Our aim is to develop confident lifelong learners and achievers of the future.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with me to show you around our fabulous new school and answer any questions you may have that are not covered in our prospectus. Linwood North School proudly offers a truly excellent, exciting and challenging education that we would love to share with you.

L EARNINGLinwood North, is a state co-educational contributing school from Years 0-6, located at 221 Woodham Road in the east of Christchurch with approximately 150 students.

The school has a happy, secure, safe environment with the grounds soon to be fully landscaped to match our brand new administration and learning blocks.

The school is very well resourced with modern, v ibrant and purpose bui l t classrooms that support 21st century learning. Class sizes are small with low teacher to student ratios, ensuring children receive valuable one on one support.

The school grounds are large, with a sizable playing field with a fitness trail and two large adventure playgrounds. There is a multipurpose basketball/tennis court and an additional netball court is soon to built. The students have ʻEdible Gardensʼ that provide a focus for healthy eating as we are a ʻHealth Promoting School.ʼ

Linwood North has developed a curriculum that places students at the centre of the learning process. We want our students to be life-long learners who aspire to dream bigger... ʻlearning to take us places...ʻ

We deliberately make our learning programmes meaningful. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, with our students being motivated and engaged in their learning. We put technology in the hands of our students, assisting them with their e-learning skills and suppor t ing them wi th on l ine learn ing environments.

Linwood North wants our students to achieve to their highest standard and we design learning programmes and offer experiences to help foster individual talents whether that be cultural, academic or sporting.

For more information on our curriculum go to our website www.linwoodnorth.school where you can download the document or make an appointment to speak to the Principal to discuss our teaching and learning.

VALUESOur students and staff actively embrace our Core Values at Linwood North. The values are part of the everyday curriculum and are encouraged, modeled and explored as we aim to make Linwood North a fun, safe and inclusive environment to learn in.

O u r v a l u e s a r e ʻR e s p e c t ̓ a n d ʻResponsibilityʼ for:

• Ourselves• Others• Our Environment

We do this by negotiating, sharing ideas, working as a team, apprec ia t i ng different points of view, interacting with give and take and knowing when to compete and when to co-operate.

Our Golden Rule is that, ʻWe treat others as we want to be treated.ʼ

Staff truly care about our students and families. We explicitly teach our values and ʻwalk the talkʼ as we strive to make our environment a secure and positive place of learning.

During weekly celebrations of learning, individuals from each class are selected by the teacher for modeling our values. The students receive acknowledgement during our assemblies.
