PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Linwood Parents and Guardians, Welcome Back! I hope you all had a restful and wonderful winter break with your families and friends! On behalf of the Linwood staff, we wish you a very Happy New Year! It was wonderful to see all of the parents and guardians that recently attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences. I want to thank each of you for coming to school and supporting your child’s education. When we build partnerships between home and school and work together, we make a valuable difference for all of our children! If you attended conferences you received a Title I School Compact for improving Student Achievement, if you were unable to attend, please read on, as the compact is attached. At Linwood, we continually strive to improve our educational program and offer the best learning opportunities for our students. One component of this is staff working hard to establish and communicate clear learning targets/goals, help students track their progress, and celebrate student successes! Using clear targets increases the clarity and focus on learning standards. During the school year, students set goals, evaluate their work by noting strengths and areas needing improvement and reflect on their progress towards their goals after assessments. Many of you have probably heard Linwood referred to as a Title I school. This term can be confusing. Title I funding “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.” Linwood uses Title I funds to help improve student learning for all of our students. We purchase additional instructional materials, pay for intervention teachers and instructional coaches that work with students and teachers, and provide professional development opportunities to our staff to better serve our students, and to actively involve the parent community. With these pieces in place, we know that the work our Linwood staff is doing will help all of our students learn and grow. Together, with help from Title I funds, your students will be prepared for college and their future career! Please read the enclosed information on the next few pages about our Title I School Compact. Remember, your feedback and thoughts are always welcomed. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to call, send a note, or send an email! PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEDear Linwood Parents and Guardians,

Welcome Back!

Attendance Line - 354-3361If your child is going to be absent or tardy, please notify the school. Our attendance hot line is available 24 hours a day at 354-3361. Caught You Kids!Character Counts at Linwood Elementary! At Linwood, we recognize students who have “Been Caught” demonstrating trustworthiness, fairness, respect, caring, responsibility and citizenship. Staff members fill out Caught You slips that go to the students, teacher, home and the office. Each Wednesday, Mrs. Naccarato draws 5 slips & those students come to the office to choose a book. Keep up the good work!

The Annual Linwood Book Fair – “Bookaneer – Where Books are the Treasure” was a huge success! Many fantastic books were purchased by Linwood students and their families. Linwood students enjoyed having their picture taken with “Linwood’s very own Pirate” and snacking on popcorn! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped at our Annual Book Fair. With your help we were able to earn $1038.00 for new Library materials.

Congratulations to the winners of our Family Night Drawing:

Jacob and Eli Smith and Madison and Paige Flett
