President’s Comments

Hello friends,

It has been an unusual few months, but the restrictions are starting to be lifted. For the age

group of our members, it is still recommended that we continue social distancing when we are

out doing our errands. The restaurants are starting to reopen but allowing very limited seating,

so we are again cancelling all Chapter meetings for June. Dobson Restaurant has not given

us a positive response on their capability to host a large group.

I nor any of the board members have heard of anyone in our chapter being afflicted with COVID

19. If you are aware of someone please let us know, especially if there is something we can

do to help. Several of us are available to pick up and deliver groceries or transport to doctor

appointments if needed. One bit of sad news to report, Ann Gippert, one of our founding

members, passed recently. Please keep her family in your prayers. Jim Austin fell recently

and broke his shoulder, he had successful surgery and is on the mend.

There isn't much else to report as we go into the summer months. The board will continue to

have conference call meetings to assess the luncheon meeting situation and we will let you

know as soon as the restaurant can support it. In the meantime, please take the necessary

precautions during your activities and take care of yourselves.

Chapter, MOAA, has cancelled all activities for June 2020. We will reevaluate at the end of June and are hoping to resume normal luncheon activities in July.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused extraordinary flux in the civilian health care system together with increased demands on

uniformed medical providers. Act now to urge Congress to halt plans to cut uniformed medical personnel and reduce military treatment facility capacity. MOAA National Legislative Action items are available to you at http://www.moaa.org/ . Click on ‘Take Action’ at the top of the page.

I hope you have enjoyed this blast from the past! In March we celebrated our Chapter’s 45th Anniversary. This is the last of our pictures from the past. I scanned about 1000 pictures that had been in albums and copied over another 1000 for our chapter history in pictures. We will keep these on an external hard drive and add to them each year. Hopefully we will be getting together for our meetings soon and will have new chapter pictures for more great memories! Until then…
