PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONSOur parent/child swim lessons promote water enrichment and aquatic-readiness activities for children and their parents or other trusted adults. In this program, the developmental experiences of each child are used to build the child’s self-confidence in and out of the water. Parents learn from the instructor’s example how to guide their children through positive reinforcement and appropriate praise.

There are five levels based on developmental abilities:

Level 1: Shrimp (6-8 months). Parents are taught how to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 2: Kipper (9-12 months) Parents are taught how to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 3: Inia (13-18 months) Parents are taught how to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 4: Perch (24-36 months) Parents are taught how to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Pike With Parent (2-4 years) Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming, including water propulsion, floating, body awareness and independence. They are also taught general aquatic safety and pool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of various instructional flotation devices (IFDs). Classes maybe combined based on enrollment. Is your child just not ready to be alone for swim lessons? This is a transitional class where we wean your child away from Mom and Dad. The next level from here would be Pike.
