YOUTH AQUATICS YOUTH AQUATICSCLASS AGE DAY(S) TIME FEES

Youth AquaticsLevel 1: Polliwog (Age 6-15) This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy (Age 6-15) In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 3: Minnow (Age 6-15) In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Youth Aquatics continuedLevel 4: Fish (Age 6-15) In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Level 5: Fly Fish (Age 6-15) In this class swimmers will learn to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Level 6: Shark (Age 6-15) In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly. AquaSprites Summer Syncro Team (8 weeks): The Olympic Sport that combines strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, beauty, split second timing and dance skills performed to music in the water. Come join in the fun! Perform in the water show at end of session. Must be able to swim one length of the pool.

Goldfish (Age 4-15) Program is for participants who need more individualized attention and practice time and has 3-to-1 ratio class. The class uses equipment appropriate for students needing extra support and assistance. Class instructors are trained Adaptive Aquatics instructors with experience working with and teaching mainstream, semi-private, and private classes for individuals with special needs.

Wet Ball Water Polo Learn fundamental skills like dribbling, treading, passing and rules of the game. This class will teach participants how to work as a team and most of all have fun! Participants must have passed the equivalent of an Eel level or should be at or above a Guppy level.

Youth Sports Climbing-Ascenders This exciting class is designed to challenge all participants to step out of their comfort zone under the guidance of our climbing staff. Participants will learn basic climbing techniques. We will focus on goal setting and striving to achieve individual and team goals. These classes are progressive designed for a variety of experience levels.

Climbing-Belayers This is an introduction to basic movement and belay techniques. This is a progressive class that takes participants from basic to the intermediate skills of climbing. Participants will learn harness and belay set up, top rope belay techniques, knots, movement on the rock, bouldering, safety skills and goal setting. Upon completions of the belayers skill development program and belay test, climber may progress to our Rock Solid program.

Climbing-Rock Solid Our Rock Solid class is for those climbers who have successfully completed our belayers skills development and belay test. Climbers will learn advanced foot placements, body movements, route climbing, as well as an intro into lead climbing, quick draws, lead belaying and top rope management. Climbers in this program have an opportunity to participate in our Youth Demo Team.

Family Martial Arts In this open style program, parents and children train together, learning how to kick, punch and apply self defense techniques while spending a little together-time as a family. Cost is for 1 parent & 1 child.

Family Martial Arts Extra Extra fee for each additional family martial arts participant.

Martial Arts This class is for men, women and children 8 and older. Your training will include traditional and nontraditional martial arts including self-defense.

Tumbling Leap, pirouette, vault or flip your way into this class today! Our very own USA Gymnastics certified instructor is at the Y and ready to help you flip into a new school year! With experience coaching every level from tiny tots through National Champions as well as leading trainings at National Gymnastics Congress and the Olympic Trials, our tumbling instructor is ready to take your child to new heights! Our tumbling program focuses on fun while teaching every level of tumbling through proper technique and repetition. Every lesson includes goal-oriented games and activities that make learning new skills fun! Developing balance, strength, coordination and flexibility will not only help your child develop into a strong tumbler, but will also help them develop in ways that will improve their performance in all other sports as well!
