Preschool DescriptionsShrimp/Kipper/Inia/Perch (Age 6-36mos) This YMCA program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children age 6-36 months. Four levels of progression will see your child through water adjustment and onto basic skills. Program instruction is directed toward helping you work with your child. Each child is always accompanied by one parent. Classes maybe combined based on enrollment

Level 1: Shrimp (Age 6-8 mos) Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 2: Kipper Age 9-12mos) Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 3: Inia (Age 13-18mos) Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 4: Perch (Age 24-36mos) Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent. A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games. This class is 30 minutes.

Level 1: Pike (Age 3-5) The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Eel (Age 3-5) Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: Ray (Age 3-5) In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Level 4:Starfish (Age 3-5) In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers also need to be able to front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

Climbing-Climbing Tykes This class is for tykes and a parent who are ready to climb. Encourage your child as you work together learning to climb.

Karate Learn the traditional style of Japanese Karate in a way that is enjoyable, fun, and inspiring. As concentration, discipline and structure are all emphasized, students will develop physically and mentally while learning karate techniques. Children build confidence and self-respect as they improve and progress. Our Karate instructor, Mary Lou Romano, has 40 yrs experience in the art of karate. No uniform is required for the first session.

Sports Of Sorts Basketball, soccer, flag football, t-ball, volleyball, dodgeball, tennis and more!! This class has it all! This fun and instructional class is perfect for children who want to get introduced into a variety of sports. Come to the Y to learn something new every single week and leave ready to rock gym class with all of your new and improved skills!

Tiny Tumblers Leap, pirouette, vault or flip your way into this class today! Our very own USA Gymnastics certified instructor is at the Y and ready to help you flip into a new school year! With experience coaching every level from tiny tots through National Champions as well as leading trainings at National Gymnastics Congress and the Olympic Trials, our tumbling instructor is ready to take your child to new heights! Our tumbling program focuses on fun while teaching every level of tumbling through proper technique and repetition. Every lesson includes goal-oriented games and activities that make learning new skills fun! Developing balance, strength, coordination and flexibility will not only help your child develop into a strong tumbler, but will also help them develop in ways that will improve their performance in all other sports as well! Little Learners Preschool program that works on age appropriate areas of learning through play, sensory, block, math, literacy, dramatic play and other theme related activities. Swim lesson held on Mondays and gym on Wednesdays. Child must be potty trained.

Toddler Time - Tues/Thurs This class is an introduction to school for your little one with enrichment activities in sensory, math, literacy, art, block play and dramatic play.

Jammin' Juniors This musical class is a dream come true for children, ages 2-5! WHY MUSIC?!Research has proven that regular, early childhood exposure to music has a myriad of benefits for children. Check out some of the things your child will get out of this fun-filled class! Early Childhood Musical Classes...? Aid academic aptitudes in mathematics, science, and the arts.? Promote large and small motor development.? Increase scholastic participation.? Teach the value of achieving goals.? Cultivate concentration and focused listening.? Satisfy your child's craving for fun!!Banging on drums, ringing bells, strumming a ukulele - this is just some of the noisy fun we'll be having as we teach your child letters, numbers, shapes, colors, while introducing Spanish and Sign Language as well!

Busy Time Story Time Each week, a story will be selected as the inspiration for the entire class. Children will be able to explore a world of creativity as they listen to the story of the week and engage in a variety of activities relating back to it. They will sing songs, participate in dramatic play and do crafts that all tie back to that week's story. This class is designed to introduce children to the magical world of books and help to engage them as they learn.

Movin' With Mommy 45 minutes of guided, structured bonding time for you and your little one (ages 12 months - 3 years) - what could be better? Come join us on Saturday mornings as we learn shapes, colors, letters, numbers and more! Laughing, playing and learning with your little one has never been so much fun! Watch their eyes light up as we play with bubbles, learn tips that you can use at home to supplement what we learn in class and even get a bit of a work out as we dance, move, sing and play with your favorite little one! This class intended to be 1 on 1 time for you and your child so they can get your undivided love and attention while developing their gross and fine motor skills.
