Every year, your officers start off “out of the gates” in a race, to learn their lines for the ritual contest. Many new jobs are presented to these officers who manage to balance their Elk duties, their livelihoods and their families. I would like to in advance, thank the officers, all of our committee chairs, and their assistants for all the work they will be putting in this upcoming year. I also want to thank all the Gardena members who volunteer their time for our lodge. It’s greatly appreciated. This year my focus will be to bring our members together and find ways to achieve success as a Lodge. I will find ways to motivate our lodge and grow our membership. I will focus on the all resources provided to us, and utilize them as best I can. I know that many of our members live far or find it physically impossible to attend our meetings or our lodge events, so I want to thank you for continuing to renew your membership. We appreciate you and we want you to know that we do not underestimate your importance to our Lodge. Our lodge has reached a point that we need “all hands on deck!” Because when we all do a little, we can accomplish a lot. We need to find ways to grow our finances, and get us back in the “black.” Some decisions that I may have to make, may not be popular, but will be made in the best interest of our lodge. We are also in need of getting our lodge banquet room rented out, so it is going to take us all, to help spread the word. Please utilize your calendars provided in your Elk Horn to keep you up to date on our Lodge events. I am excited to get you, the members, involved in participating in our lodge events. I know if we all put in a little more effort, we could achieve great things. I look forward to serving you and this lodge in hopes of a successful year! Sincerely, Matt Almaraz ER Page 1

The Friendly Lodge

1735 West 162nd St.

Gardena, California 90247

To My Fellow Elks,

This month is the beginning of a new Elk year and as your newly elected Exalted Ruler I am pleased to continue the Brotherhood of Elkdom in Gardena Lodge number 1919.

Sincerely, Matt Almaraz ER

Leading Knight Hello Fellow Elks It is the beginning of the new elk year and I am exited to get it started. We are going to have another great year. Please support our lodge by helping out and joining in on our lodge activities. Let's also try to help our lodge by bringing in some new members. We need to keep our lodge going so everyone's help is appreciated. Please come to our meetings as well, a lot of important information is always given there. Join us for Hamburger night, breakfast, steak night, fish fry or anyone of our other events. I'm looking forward to this year and to see what's in store. I'm sure our new E.R. Has many exciting things in store for us. Again please don't forget to let us know if you have any suggestions and please volunteer our lodge cannot run without the help of our volunteers. I will see everyone soon at the lodge. Sincerely, Marcya Holguin Esteemed Leading Knight

I am so happy and proud to have been elected to the station of Loyal Knight for the 2015-2016 term and am therefore looking forward to a very busy year.

I have been an Elks member for the last four years during which I was Major Projects/Purple Pig Chairperson my second year. It was lots of fun making Jell-O shots for karaoke nights, creating gift baskets, selling raffle tickets, etc., and so I anticipate having an even greater time, if that’s possible, helping in any way I can with this year’s fundraisers. With that said I want to personally challenge each of YOU to step up and volunteer because your help does make a difference…plus it’s FUN!!

Right now my mind is on the upcoming ritual contest and once that is behind me my focus will be to participate in the upcoming events that help our lodge stay strong in a community that we are proud of and in turn they can be proud of their Elks Lodge #1919.

Lastly, the second Sunday of the month Elks Breakfast is a time for folks to come out and enjoy a good meal together. I look forward to making new friends, meeting the families and seeing old friends here so please stop me and do say Hello.

Fraternally, Shirley Treuden Esteemed Loyal Knight

Loyal Knight Lecturing Knight

To my fellow Elks,

I just want to start by saying, Thank you for this opportunity and your vote of confidence to be your Lecturing Knight. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful organization and honored to be a new officer. I am looking forward to making this an extremely successful Elk year for our local food bank, Tuesday hamburger night, Sunday breakfast and Fish fry but I can't do it alone. I will need your help and support in doing what you can by donating food or joining us for one or more of these events. Together we can make a difference. :)

"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." -Mother Theresa
