BOWLERS CORNERThe biggest and the best tournament of the year is coming up in Laughlin NV on the 1st and 2nd of November. I would like to have a lot of teams there.

The tournaments coming up are as follows:

Bowling Chairman,Bill Creighton

Dear Fellow Members,

What a beautiful summer we’ve had that has extended through mid-September with the weather in the mid to upper 80’s. Been to a lodge meeting lately? We have new microphones that are super clear and loud. It’s going to be hard for those that take catnaps during the meeting. Our

floors are absolutely beautiful thanks Bob and the volunteers who came to help. Also all of the officers’ stations and altar have been given a new life thanks to new member Juan Silva. Look for more lodge TLC in the coming months.

Membership continues to grow. The lapsation list is one of the lowest we’ve had in a while. “Good job!” to chair-man, Harry Fitch. Our Purple Pig chairman, Nancy Gluekert, is doing an outstanding job with the candy at all our gatherings.

In addition to our regular weekly and monthly events we had a good turnout for our first member appreciation day. So glad to see applications turned in and to see members come back that have been gone for a while.

This year’s Luau chaired by sisters Marsha and Darlene Aguon was quite a success! Food was great (fantastic pineapple upside down cake Est . Loyal Knight Marcya Holgiun!), entertainment was wonderful and our DJ was fun as usual. “Thank you!” to both of them and to their committee. Special thanks go to those who helped clean up afterwards. September also brought our grandparents day breakfast and annual family picnic. Thursday night football in the Jolly Corks is happening. October and November bring many opportunities to support the lodge, including a Halloween party to benefit ENF, a dinner dance to benefit the Purple Pig, a Veterans Brunch, a mov-ie under the stars youth activity and two karaoke nights in the Jolly Corks.

If it’s been awhile since you’ve been to the lodge, please come join in and reconnect with your fellow members. The future of our lodge is in ALL of our hands, not just a few. Active participation is what will ensure we continue to grow.

With that, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” (Let the good times roll. )

Lecturing Knight Gustavo Huerta Dear Fellow Elks, As 2014 is quick-ly coming to an end we still have many Elk events until the end of the year, and would like to encourage all of you to attend. Please come out and enjoy new friends and family at the Elks Family picnic, join in the fun at this years Halloween Party. I would like to ask any new or old members that may be interested in assisting out our Tuesday kitchen crew for hamburger night please let me know or please sign our volun-teer sheet that is posted in the Jolly Cork. Just a reminder that our food bank is always in need so please clean out those pan-tries and help us stock our food bank. Thank you all in advance for everyone’s help and assis-tance.

Your Leading Knight. Gustavo Huerta

Loyal Knight Marcya Holguin

Hello Fellow Elks,

I hope everyone has had a great last couple of months and were able to attend some of our events. For those who attended the Luau we had a great turn out and a fabulous time. I hope you were also able to at-tend the family picnic. It’s always nice to share time with our fellow Elks and their families. We have a lot more events com-ing up the next couple of months so be sure to mark your calen-dars and get your tickets. Don’t forget the second Sunday of ev-ery month is our breakfast. Come and enjoy a delicious breakfast and great company. Thank you to everyone who participates and volunteers their time at the lodge. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Esteemed Loyal KnightMarcya Holguin

Leading Knight Matt Almaraz

Hello my Fellow Elks,

I hope you had a fantas-tic summer. Here at the lodge it felt as if we were on a beautiful Island with an awesome Luau put on by Marsha Aguon and her sister Dar-lene Aguon. I hope you had fun at our family picnic this year that your Loyal Knight, Marcya Holguin, put together. This year has gone by so fast, our Ex-alted Ruler, Alyssa Santos, has been working hard to keep our lodge moving in the right direction, so if you have time to help, volunteer for our lodge. Give us a call. At this time, I as your leading knight would like you to think about this coming year. As an officer, we were not appointed our roles. You or the members that were at themeetings voted us in. If you feel this could be something you are interest-ed in, being an officer or a chairper-son, I encourage you to come down be involved and let me know. I look forward to help in anyway I can to keep our lodge growing in membership and to upkeep our building that so urgently needs your help. I always look forward to seeing you.

Thank you

Sincerely,Your Leading Knight Matt Almaraz
