TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE PERSPECTIVES

2015 will be a record year in terms of investments in modernisation of railway lines. Construction works will also start on several new expressways.

According to the National Road Construction Program for years 2014-2020, it is planned that about 2228 km new roads will be built, including 71 km of motorways, 1790 km of expressway and 35 bypasses of a total length of 366 km.



ROADS | Government plans

show that by the year 2023, investments in national roads may reach the amount of over PLN 155 billion, including PLN 93 billion for construction of new roads

| According to data of the infrastructure and environment ministry, approximately 34% of national roads in Poland require repairs or modernisations



RAILWAYS | Polish State Railways

(PKP) company ended the year 2014 with total investment outlays at the level of PLN 7 billion and plans to invest about PLN 9 billion in the current year

| Plans for the forthcoming years include revitalisation and modernisation of 1800 km of tracks and overhead contact system, 2700 railway junctions and 1200 grade crossings. The total value of investments under the new EU budget is estimated at over PLN 50 billion.



METRO | The second metro line

in Warsaw was opened on 8 March 2015 after three years of construction, including tunnel under the Vistula river built using the TMB method

| Further plans concerning extension of the second metro line are now at the tender preparation stage and include construction of six new stations.

| Other cities signal their interest in metro construction (Krakow, Wroclaw).



URBAN TRANSPORT | In the field of public

transport, particular attention will be paid to development of rail means of transport. Investments will cover both the infrastructure (eg. construction or extension of rail networks, road and street sysems) and the rolling stock.

| Also complementary infrastructure projects will be financed – ITS, integration of existing means of transport and adaptation to the needs of the disabled.
