The Concord Rangers FC Football Academy reflects an ethos which combines the provision of football excellence alongside a full time education programme.

Where will the Academy be held?The Football Academy offers a unique opportunity for players to train and study in an environment that will develop their academic and sporting performance.

The Football development programme and Academic studies will be based onsite at the Aspect Arena Stadium, Thames Rd , Canvey Island , SS8 0HH. Here players will benefit from a dedicated classroom for academic studies.

What Education Programme will I study?Over the 2-year duration, players will study a variety of National Recognised Qualifications within the subject of Sport, Coaching & Fitness. Players will study the Diploma in Sport, delivered at Level 2 and 3 standard (A-Level equivalence), FA Coaching Qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English. Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected Universities and employment opportunities within the Sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.

Who will deliver the Education?The club have linked with SCL, a Further Education and Work Based Training Provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Academy. SCL currently work in partnership with many Sixth Form Schools, Further Education Colleges and Football Academies in the South of England and have over 10-years of experience successfully delivering vocational and academic sports based qualifications. The SCL team consist of highly qualified and experienced Teachers, Assessors, Verifiers and FA Coach Educators.

What are the Costs?Both the Football and Educational element of the Academy is fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into the Football Academy.

What is The Football Academy?Football Academy is a 2-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and Non-League Football Clubs. Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Academy Programme is a must for any football enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.

Why Join the Academy?With our extensive youth system we have developed an outstanding reputation for nurturing talented players through the youth development system and into professional and Non-League Football. A key component to this success in 2013 will be the new Concord Rangers FC Academy.The Academy will play a fundamental role in Concord Rangers FC’s youth department which will strive to create a development culture with the primary function of developing players to compete in the first team squad.

Who is the Academy Manager? Sam Taylor will be responsible for the football element of the Academy. Sam come through the ranks of West Ham United playing in the famous youth team that produced players such as Joe cole , Michael Carrick , Jermain Defoe and Glen Johnson. After spells with Darlington and Bournmouth FC Sam went onto play for over 12 years in Non League football representing Thurruck , Barking , Billericay , Boreham Wood , Bishops Stortford , Harlow and finishing his playing career here at Concord Rangers. Sam has coached at The Glen Johnson Soccer School and is now part of the West Ham Academy , he feels he has gained invaluable experiance through his playing days and now with his role of coaching to help develope and nuture young players. His passion and positive attitude towards youth learning and development is in line with the football clubs aim of developing and progressing players into the reserve and first team squad. Studying towards his A licence Sam will use his current role and extensive knowledge of the game towards plotting the playing pathways for each student.

Academy Football All academy players will receive daily training involving individual and team coaching from highly Qualified West Ham Academy coaches affiliated to the football club. Players will receive guidance on individual football fitness, nutritional advice and have a regular appraisal to monitor each player’s development both on and off the pitch. Players will have the opportunity to represent the football club through the Academy, Youth, College or Reserve Team, with the aim to progress into the first team or higher.
