From birth, the intake of vital nutrients is essential to the growth and development of a healthy individual. Good nutrition, particularly in the first three years of life, is important in establishing and maintaining a good foundation that has implications on a child’s future physical and mental health, academic achievement, and economic productivity.

What is hunger ?Hunger refers to the lack of food

Hunger: Facts, Figures and Statistics• In the Asian, African and Latin American countries, well over 500 million people

are living in what the World Bank has called "absolute poverty“• Every year 15 million children die of hunger, and every 3.6 seconds someone

dies of hunger• For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch

every day for 5 years• Throughout the 1990's more than 100 million children will die from illness and

starvation. Those 100 million deaths could be prevented for the price of ten Stealth bombers, or what the world spends on its military in two days!

• One in twelve people worldwide is malnourished, including 160 million children under the age of 5. United Nations Food and Agriculture

• The Indian subcontinent has nearly half the world's hungry people. Africa and the rest of Asia together have approximately 40%, and the remaining hungry people are found in Latin America and other parts of the world. Hunger in Global Economy

• 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day.

What is FeelGood?

• FeelGood is a non-profit youth movement working to end global hunger by 2030.

• They currently have chapters on 23 college campuses across the U.S. and two certified partner organizations active throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

• On each campus, FeelGood students engage in a multi-faceted training program, gaining the knowledge and skills to run a successful social enterprise—a grilled cheese deli—to raise money and build public support for a systemic approach to hunger eradication.

Their Approach• Recognizes that hunger is part of a complex web of social, economic

and environmental issues that intertwine the developing and developed world. Hence their approach is both:

• DOMESTIC though the education, training and empowerment of U.S. college students as influential and strategic changemakers for the end of hunger, and

• INTERNATIONAL through partnerships with successful and systemically-focused global aid organizations executing proven empowerment-based development strategies. These organizations receive 100% of the money FeelGood students raise through on-campus deli operations.

Impacts since start of venture

• $1.57 M for the end of hunger• 15,691 lives out of poverty• 23 active chapters• 138,000 volunteer hours• 160,519 grilled cheese

Impacts just in 2013

• Over the last several months, each chapter has succeeded in meeting fundraising goals and collectively raised close to $43,000 in new money to aid in the movement against hunger.

• THP and CHOICE are FeelGood's two certified partner organizations, and the recipients of 100% of the money FeelGood students raise through their deli operations and other fundraising initiatives. Committed to an ethos of “partnership, not charity,” both organizations have a proven track record of sustainable hunger eradication
