What is a Food Shortage?Severe hunger; starvation. A food crisis occurs when rates of hunger and malnutrition rise sharply at local, national, or global levels. This definition distinguishes a food crisis from chronic hunger, although food crises are far more likely among populations already suffering from prolonged hunger and malnutrition.

Over 45 000 people affected by drought and floods in Nepal have received relief assistance. Unprecedented floods caused by several weeks of torrential rain have left millions of people in India and Pakistan homeless and in need of food assistance. ProblemOne of the great challenges of the 21st century will be to feed a rapidly growing population. Current projections suggest the number of people on earth will outpace our ability to feed them by 2050. Food insecurity can lead not only to famine but also to political instability and violence.
World food preservation hunger
Major manufacturer of advanced postharvest technologies. These "Sister" Universities and Institutes are working together in a unique partnership to develop new sustainable technologies to combat food loss in developing countries and throughout the world.
Working to provide well qualified graduate students from developing countries with a world-class education in the postharvest preservation of food. They are striving to educate an army of dedicated young scientists from developing countries that will return to their native countries and make a substantial impact on reducing world hunger. With the reduction of food hunger, more people will have food to consume and food shortage will decrease over time.
Our Reflection- We feel that people are affected by the situation of people around
them greatly, for example a person in a lesser-developed country who are facing food storage would not strive to improve their situation as everyone around them is having the same problem.
- We feel that through volunteering activities such as BB cares ,we would be better able to help the needy and the hungry , to provide them food.
- Yes, we feeling having the comfort of Singapore would give us a opportunity to help the needies, but also give us a meaningful experience to take home
