    R&D ITALY

LxA Project (short for Liuteria x Amore which means Luthier for Love) is a story of Italian

excellence in craftsmanship, inspired by passion, technology and creativity.

LxA is born when Master Luthier Roberto Fontanot - more than 20 years of ex perience in

assisting world-renowned guitar player - meets Maurizio Serafin, an Italian architec t.

The common mission is to build string instruments combining love for the instrument, manual

skills and creativity, by making the best use of the most advanced manufac turing technology.

Built in full respect of nature following the rules of traditional guitar building, all instruments

are made with the highest quality wood, naturally seasoned and finished with natural paint.

The collaboration with Eko begins in l ate 2012,

when Massimo Varini takes on his role as EKO Project Leader: Roberto Fontanot is the luthier

taking care of his instrument s for the past 15 years.

LxA Project has thus become the R&D for EKO taking care, under the leadership of

Massimo Varini, of everything that concerns the development of new designs

with technical drawings and production of prototypes,

but they also manufacture exceptional guitars - 100% Made In Italy.

The research done in Italy is also transferred to the instruments manufactured

in far east in order to ensure Italian style and design,

but also to ensure the quality that is essential for this concept.

    MADE IN ITALY

    VISION

    0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

When I think about buying a new Guitar, Im simply not interested in just a product...

Im trying to follow a dream, that can become a reality with a Guitar.

This is the goal that Eko are aiming to achieve, to build dream-catching instruments, that

inspire people of all ages to become mu sicians, to become happy and enriched with mu sic.

Musicians talking together use a totally di fferent language!

Hey Guys! I was playing my favorite Axe when I heard the strings buzzing!

So I used an allen -key to raise the action, used thin ner picks and a capo!

For non-musicians its not easy to understand this terminology!

We are like a Tribe... so thinking about tribes, Ive organized the Eko catalog referring to

the ancient meanings of numbers from 0 to 8, with every number having its own meaning.

Most of the instruments have a tribal-logo that suggests the series/model name and in

my Eko Catalog there is not one single guitar that I would not recommend to a friend.

Every instrument has it s own story, and I think it will be easy to find the right one for you,

it does not matter if you want to become a professional, or just play for fun on the beach, or in

    front of a fireplace.

From entry level to the high specification Made in Italy series,

Eko has the answer for every musician!

I am inviting you to become par t of the EKO Tribe, so we can help you follow your dream!

The new Eko catalog begins with the number 0 because this number represents a completed work.

A circle commonly represents unity, wholeness, and infinity, without beginning or end.

Oliviero Pigini founded Eko 55 years ago, in 1959 and by creating the Eko brand he accomplished his

dream, and completed his own circle/zero.

Now, after 55 years, we continue to write that dream, celebrating the 55 thanniversary of the founding of

Eko with this limited edition of 55 pieces.

Primo is the Italian word for First and is therefore associated with the number 1.

The beginning of every count, theFirst place is what we all aspire to... but 1 is not only

the beginning, it is also considered to be the number associated with the sun, with the

natural phenomena of the earth and fire.

The Primo series is inspired by the fire, by the Flame of Love for the music that burns inside

every young musician. Thus Spark is where its starts, a small guitar for little ones... but

the spark turns into a small Flame that lights up but those around, like a Candle, a size

guitar, and then finally the Flame and the Sparkling Flame.

A truly EKO guitar, unique in every detail, Rosette, bridge and headstock.

    DUO TRI EVO EGONXT MIA

THREE is said to be the perfect number...

THREE letters form the name EKO, in Italian the word for 3 is made of THREE letters

    (TRE in italian means 3)!

The sound of the word THREE is similar to TREE, and it is from the trees that the guitars take

shape and life... to finally arrive into the hands of musicians, or to someone who dreams of

    becoming a musician.

    Tre... Three... Tree... TRI

The Musician enriches the world of his music, and at the same time while expressing himself

through the music he proves his existence... everything takes the form of a Latin word: EGO.

THREE letters again and the of EKO that reflects itself in a mirror, takes pleasure from it

    and is a mirrored THREE!

The number 3 was part of the inspiration when creating this new catalog.

The name of the EKO acoustic series are formed of 3 letters and the fingerboard inlays of

each series are to be considered like a tribal-tattoo at the twelfth fret.

Since 1959, Eko was for many the FIRST guitar, with millions of people starting to play

holding an EKO guitars in their hands.

Eko has always been recognized throughout the world for excellent price quality ratio.

This first series of acoustic instruments are intended to be not only the first, but also the

N(e)XT guitar in the development of a musicians path... One step forward, a little more... a

    little farther.

A series of instruments with 100% EKO characteristics. Entry level guitars very affordable,

made with great care for detail and quality, that make the NXT series an ideal first guitar,

but also the next that guitarist wants to have.

The rounded/smoothed shapes of the 2014 headstock and bridge are a good match to the

straight cutaway particular to EKO. The oval shaped hole, although coming from the late

60s, becomes wonderfully modern when applied to the NXT Nylon and Gipsy.

In this case the DUO is not formed by two people but

from the union of the musician and his instrument.

The instrument itself becomes part of the DUO and the new rosette is trying to

communicate/express this double thread tie which links the guitarist and his guitar in an

inextricably way, the sinuous curves of the headstock and bridge are represented in the

new Rosette DUO, that intersects them together.

The EKO philosophy of offering fantastic quality/price ratio, finds the DUO and DUO

Flamed+ the perfect connection of aesthetics and attention to detail.

This series which come in two versions, pays a lot attention on the aesthetics of the

instrument, even though they are entry level instruments, they are a pleasure for the eyes.

With a very stylish design they offer a round and rich sound. The series also includes

equalized versions, featuring an Eko in house designed EQ and the Flamed+ the famous

This series offers to the more demanding musicians a selection of Solid Top guitars

designed with the focus on performance.

The musician, the instrument and the sound, an indissoluble TRInity.

The cutaway used in this series is the American Style Cutaway, which is softer and curvier.

This style of cutaway is also used for the Evo series, while the other series make use of the

Straight CW used by Eko in the 60s.

The TRI series combines a Spruce solid top with Mahogany back and sides, with fretboard

and bridge in rosewood. This combination provides a penetrating and accurate sound,

with volume, even with the Mini version suitable for both, children and those looking for a

big sound in a portable size.

The EVO(lution) series carries the genetic code of the MIA series, which have become

Ekos most successful guitars in recent years.

The MIA series changed the perception of EKO from being mainly a first guitar to

becoming the Ultimate guitar in the hands of great artists and professionals.

EVO series takes a step further by focusing on the close relationship between musician

and instrument, with Open Pore finish,

so to leave intact the contact and feeling with the wood.

Reduced body thickness makes the instrument with a great sound, a perfect,

    comfortable fit when played.

The use of 3 different stages of maturation of the wood and open pore finish, make these

instruments extremely lightweight and resonant, the sound is warm, and the depth of

cedar is made more present by the mahogany back and sides.

The width of the NUT has been increased to 45 mm, to better support fingerstyle lovers

used to fingerboards of renowned and historical brands.

The length of the DIAPASON is by choice different between the various models.

For EVO Gipsy and EVO Baritone we chose a solid Sitka Spruce top for tonal

characteristics matching with the other models of the series.

The EVO Mini is a small guitar with professional sound characteristics for younger guitar

heroes, and portability for professionals without sacrificing quality.

The Italian meaning of the word MIA is MINE!

The first series introduced by Massimo Varini in 2009, this represented the return of Eko to

the popularity, usage and prestige it had back in the 60s.

Whats more personal and intimate for a guitarist to say that this is my guitar?

MIA series delivers everything demanded by professional players.

The exceptional formula with MIA is the selected Cedar top, with reduced thickness for a

fantastic physical sensation that vibrates on the player.

Rosewood back and sides deliver depth, dynamics and warmth of sound, while the

associate a Star is the Dreadnought shape.

ICON, the idols who made history, speaking about guitar players they are often associated

with shapes such as the zero 0, 00, 000, and the OM .

This is why the name of our EGO ICON is the OM shape.

LEGEND, photos that bring the sense of Legends are black and white, the legend of

guitarists who sold their souls, is often started by playing a guitar with the Parlor shape.

For EGO series, focus is totally on the producing guitars to the highest quality possible.

Inside the catalog called 3 - acoustic instrument the EGO series represent the absolute

maximum in terms of human contribution and guitar building.

    LM&T

For the series ELEMENTS we were inspired precisely by the 4 elements.

All Made in Italy electric guitars are built with the highest research and technology

combined with the experience and love that characterize the production of Master Luthier

Roberto Fontanotand his workshop Liuteria X Amore Project.

Our pickguards in wood, inlaid pots, the research of fascinating curves, playability, fit,

    sound research...

    - FIRE:we started with the number 1 with the series FIRST, like with that series, we were

inspired by the flame that burns in the hearts of musicians when thinking this guitar... this

guitar is the most aggressive with real fire in the sound. The combinations of pickups and

the tremolo make this a very versatile instrument!

    - TERO:a mix between the typical TELE sound, heavy and consistent, and the

concreteness of an LP... the combination of wood, the neck joint and pickups make this a

guitar you really do feel... sinking feet on the GROUND and pushing the sound up to the

    listener.

    - AIRE:1959 is the year of the founding of Eko and in the same year the Stratocaster

moved from the maple fretboard to the rosewood one... thinking about that historic

instrument and about such a crucial date for Eko, we wanted to set the goal even more

forward: 24-frets with no modern impact, a positively sharp and penetrating sound, with

all the features of our Made in Italy production.

    - AQUA:the choice of woods and construction model gives this guitar a very liquid

sound. When, in 1959, Oliviero Pigini began his dream, the guitar designed by Mr. Les Paul

become very important and recognized as the guitar with the most fluid sound ever

produced, and that year was very special.

The RANGER is the guitar that very well represents the history of Eko.

A guitar that has been very important in the past, continues to be very important today and

will surely become more important in the future of Eko.

For this relationship between past and future this section of the catalog is associated with

the number 5... a number that looks with equal intensity in two different directions.

With the Ranger VR (Vintage Reissue) we bring to new life the most beautiful and interesting

features used in the past, all combined together in this instrument that we offer now,

after 55 years, in a new different colour, as if this guitar is a real vintage.

    ARTIST

The number 6 is the right number for the ARTIST series.

SIX are the letters in the word Artist and the number 6 stays for balance and harmony.

The number SIX, similar to the artist, has the ability to beautify and enrich what is around

him and thats why we have put together in this series the guitars thought by great artists,

realized together with EKO. They are like the leaders of our TRYBE.

This series will rapidly grow with no restrictions of any kind; every shape be it an electric,

classic or acoustic guitar, every bass and ukulele, they will all be welcome.

Many artists are already working with us and many new will be joining the team, stay tuned

to find out the names that we will soon publish.

What really matters is that all the peculiarities of each instruments have been designed by

each artist with sound and playability in mind, in combination with visual characteristics,

that are so important in a guitar.

    TRYBE

TRYBE is the name of our TRIBE, because we want you to TRY(to)BE.

Buying an instrument means to bring home something that does not work straight out of

the box, no plug & play, instead you need to commit yourself to learn how to play.

Learning to play an instrument is a journey into yourself!

TRY(to)BE wants to bring the kids to discover the music of their idols by playing the

instruments their idols have designed to their own taste; the artist can decide to include

small booklets containing his most famous songs, with instructions on how to start playing

    with the instrument.

The artist will not only customize the instrument he likes more, be it a guitar, a bass or an

ukulele, but he will also invite his own community of supporters and followers to TRY(to)BE

the protagonists of their own lives, perhaps by putting aside for a little while the modern

    wonder of technology.

Join us in our TRIBE and TRY(to)BE a musician!

Our journey inside the Concept 2014 started from the number 0 and we end this journey

with the number 8, which is a number that rotating on his center brings us back to the

    beginning.

OTTO is a name, but OTTO is also how we call the number 8 in Italy.

OTTO is the name of our Ukulele series and the shape of the ukulele body is very similar to

the curves of the number 8.

With this number, which can be traced and traced again in an infinite loop, we invite you

once more to be part of the Eko Tribe.

EKO is company that since 1959 has been side by side with millions of musicians!

No matter whether you play a bass, an electric or an acoustic guitar... or maybe a mandolin

or an ukulele... we have the right tool to help you realizing your dream!
