SpeakersChairpersonThefallmeetingwillbechairedbyHeidiDePauw,ManagingDirectorofChildFocus-EuropeanCentreforMissingandSexuallyExploitedChildren.Withamaster’sdegreeincriminologyandapostgraduatedegree in Human and Social Sciences, Heidi started her career as deputy advisor at the Ministry ofInterior followed by various functions with a direct link to the prevention and care of missing andabused children.Over the years she has combined her professional careerwith roles in several non-profit organizations and is co-author of various academic publications related tomissing and abusedchildren.KeynotespeakerTobeconfirmedCultivatingsecurity:anappealingepiphanyorarecipefordefeat?HugoMarynissenandAnneBergmanswillpresenthowpeopleviewthesafetycultureinorganizationsandthehumanfactorinthisapproach.Theywillillustratethepitfallsandopportunitiesofadoptinghighreliabilityorganisationalprinciplestosecuritymanagementwithcasestudiesandexamples.Hugo Marynissen is the academic director of the Executive PhD program at Antwerp ManagementSchool. He is also guest lecturer at various European universities such as University of Antwerp(Belgium),CampusVesta(Belgium),CranfieldUniversity (UK),HUB(Belgium),andLaureaUniversityofAppliedSciencesinHelsinki(Finland).HeisthemanagingdirectorandpartnerofPMRisk–Crisis-Change,anagencyspecialisedinriskandcrisismanagementandcommunication.Since2008hehasprovided regularcoachingandconsultancyservicesinthefieldofriskandcrisismanagement.Inaddition,heisthepresidentoftheCIPInstitute,anon-profitorganizationbringingtogetherscientistsand practitioners from various disciplines in an inspiring and innovative platform to exchange anddevelopknowledgeabouttheComplexandInteractiveProcesses(CIP)inthefieldofcrisis.Hugo holds a Doctoral degree (DBA - Doctor of Business Administration) from Cranfield University –SchoolofManagement(UK),andaMaster’sdegreeinChangeManagementfromHECBusinessSchool(France). The focus of his research is on the relationship between risk communication and riskperceptionwithinso-called“High-ReliabilityOrganizations”.AnneBergmansholdsaPhDinsociology(2005).SheisseniorresearcherandlecturerinEnvironmentalSociology and Sociology of Risk and Safety at the University of Antwerp. Anne has been acting asscientificcoordinatorfortheUniversityofAntwerp’sMasterinSafetySciencessince2013.

Hermainfieldofstudyistheinterfacebetweensocietyandtechnologyandthegovernanceofrisk.Shehasaparticularexperienceinresearchoninformedandinclusivedecisionmakingonenvironmentalandtechnological risk, such as regarding the siting of contested facilities, (participatory) technologyassessmentand(responsible)innovation;andthisbothintermsofpublicandcompanypolicy.MostofAnne’s research is policyorientedaction-research,mainlyqualitative indesign andbasedonScience and Technology Studies (STS), with a strong focus on system and network analysis includingbothhumansandnon-humansasactorsintheriskandsafetydiscourse.SecurityAwareness:FactsorFiction?Organizationsspenda lotofmoneytocreateawarenessofspecificsecurityrisksamongstaff.Despitethese efforts, it does not always lead to the desired results, namely a permanent and increasedalertness. This ismainly due to the functioning of our brain and that iswhy the presentationwill begivenfromaneuroscientificangle.TomandKatelijnNijsmanswillclarifywhatalertness isandexposethe gaps in this fallible system. Theywill translate these findings into some concrete tips to increasesecurityawarenessinyourorganization.TomandKatelijnNijsmans are the foundersof TheTippingPoint, a trainingand consulting firm thatguideslearning-andchanging-processesbasedonthelatestinsightsaboutBrainBasedLearning.Theirstarting point is that the brain is naturally set to resist changes. Therefore, they have developed aTippingmethodology, based on a number of principles,which ensures that changes in behaviour aretakingplace.Andoftenthesearesmallchangesthatprovideforthe"tipping"tothedesiredchanges.TomNijsmansisacriminologistwith15yearsofexperienceinguidingsecurityawarenessprogramsandhissisterKatelijnNijsmansisaneuropsychologistworkingattheUniversityofAntwerp.“HostileObservationsThroughSocialMedia&SmartDevices”Thisdynamicpresentationwilldemonstratemethodsusedbyhostileagentstodigitallyprofiletargets,their friends, families and colleagues throughopenly availabledigital sources. The subjectmatterwillcovereverythingfromthetypesofdatausersshareonline,geo-locationaldatafromdevices,apps, todevice connectivity, such asWi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The presentationwill also cover the types ofsocial media content that can be of interest to the press and how it damages reputations. This willincludepossibleriskstostaffwhomaynothavesocialmediaaccountsandasaresult,havetheironlineidentitieshijackedbyhostileobservers.David Benford MSc is a leading expert on hostile observations through social media and emergingtechnologies. He is managing director and principal consultant of digital forensic & cybercrimespecialists Blackstage Forensics.
