TURTLE SPAREDLast week I was driving out the

Hurricane Road and right on the middleof the road there was a dark, large blob.I stopped to check on the curious darkheap and found that it was the largestturtle I had ever seen in my life. I actu-ally was concerned about what wouldhappen to him/her so I tossed a cracker

to him. He didnot blink ormove. Then Itossed a pieceof pavementnear him andstill no move-ment. Carspassed, truckspassed, but Istood there totry to get their attention. No one hit himor stopped, but I was persistent andafraid to go pick him up. So I thought Iwill pray for God to move him and I saidsomething like this, “God this is yourcreation and I would hate to see himsmashed” and I started to walk away, but so help me the feeble ambling turtleturned back in the direction of the ditch-line and he slowly ambled into the grassand water filled ditch. Now you mightthink I’m a nut case, and I am, but theugly turtle was spared. How do you likethose apples?

DRY LAND FISHI have heard the term dry-land fish

about everyday for the last month. Ihave seen and know folk who havecombed the forests and orchards aroundme. They sometimes return with anonion bag full of dry-land fish with ahuge smile on their face. Sometimesthey will offer me a “mess”. I politelyjust respond thanks, but no thanks.

Actually I probably will think about thatfor days afterwards. It’s like the“papaws” fruit may have encouragedme to try those. I give the same answer. The truth of the matter is that I will stickto mangos, avocados and other fruitsthat I can purchase right here in ourgrocery store or from our farmers in thesummer. Have it your way. It’s your gutthat will or will not show the good or badoutcome.

VISITS TRINITY CHURCHI visited a new church on a rainy,

Sunday morning last week. I visited thebeautiful Trinity Church on theCoeburn highway. When I pulled into

the parking lot, late as usual, I was ableto enjoy the gorgeous trees, dogwoods, red maples, pretty flowers and shrubs. Then, I entered the lovely Sanctuarywith such pretty lighting, a stone alter, soft colors, recessed lighting and on andon. I also met many very friendly peoplewho welcomed me to the church. JohnMcCarroll preached then he, and hiswife Martha, sang at the end of the serv-ice. The piano player was superb. Thefolks had a long time of prayer at first, which is great. A man also talked for awhile before the preacher. I really didenjoy my visit and came away happythat I had gone.
