Doctors were of the opinion that I will be able to standwith the help of crutches but I hadvowed not to touch such gadgets andhad taken firm decision to walk onmy own legs. A lot of power came tome to stand against such odds justbecause of you.

WARTS DISAPPEARED WITH THEPRACTICE OF PRANAYAAM

Respected SwamijiI had developed on my nose a wart

of about 1 inch size. I used to feelashamed on that account. Out of help-lessness, every 3rd or 4th day, I usedto cut it with the help of a blade andhad to bear a lot of pain. In fact, awart is a life like thing. Cutting of wart caused a lot of bleeding. Withthe help of cotton, I used to wipe theblood oozing out of it. However, thewart continued to grow rapidly. Later,I saw your programmes of yoga andpranayaam on the TV and startedpracticing yoga and pranayaam ev-eryday just for 30 minutes at homeitself. I also started joining your Yogashivirs. At that time, I used to prac-tice Kapaalbharti and Anuloom Vilomfor just half an hour everyday. I con-tinued this practice for a period of 2years regularly. Gradually the wartvanished.

This fact I concealed for severalyears. I remember the severity of painI had to face on cutting of the wartwhich was growing very rapidly andwas taking a strange shape on thenose. It so happened 3 years back,

now that wart has disappeared. Infact, it is the effect of the inspirationI received indirectly from you swamijithat I was relieved from the problemof wart. It has added to my faith inthe yoga.

Yogasan is not an ordinary thing but a physical ac-complishment which requires the observance of cer-tain rules, discipline, self confidence and continuity. Con-tinuous practice is a must. Before doing yogasana, it isworth knowing as to what is a Yogasan. Taking precau-tions is also necessary. In case, these precautions arenot taken, it may cause harm instead of benefit. It is notlike a sport or physical exercise.

The person who wants to practice yogasana shouldnecessarily clear his bowels and other natural urgesbefore practicing.

The person doing yoga exercises should not havethe problem of constipation. If he is in the habit of taking coffee or tea in the morning, he may take onecup of tea or coffee. For better results, avoidanceof such drinks is the right thing.

Something should be eaten only after atleast one hourof the practice of yogasana.

Practice of yogasana should be done before sunriseor after sun set.

Practice of difficult yogasana should be done pref-erably in the morning or practice of the simpleyogasana in the evening.

Yog sadhna is possible only with the continuity of practice, dedication and courage

During the period of yogic practices, several hin-drances crop up which are to be overcome with firm-ness. These obstacles come in the way of yoga prac-titioner in the form of diseases, laziness, careless-ness and uncertainty. One can overcome these ob-stacles by the purity of mind and focused concen-tration. One has to continue his practice with strongdetermination and patience.

In order to overcome the obstacles likely to be facedby a yoga practitioner, Maharishi Patanjali has found

that instilling the feeling of friendliness, compassion, bliss and hopefulness within oneself is the best way.Yog sadhna is tied with the element of regularityand continuity and it is a satvik way of living. Onewho practices Yogasanas attains the beauty of bodyand mind.

Precautions: Practice of yogasana should be undertaken at a clean,

airy and germfree place, without any noise or sportsin the nearby areas.

Before starting yogasanas, one should keep his eyesopen and muscles tension free. If one can do a par-ticular aasan regularly and easily, he can keep hiseyes closed.

While doing yogasanas, the body should be activeand the mind inactive. However, alertness and pre-cautions should not be left out. During the practiceof a yogasana with a tension on the mind or per-formed forcibly, one cannot keep track of his mis-takes.

more quantity of juice, squashes and shikanji etc.

In case of tiredness during work, one should sit in acomfortable posture in the seat itself. Keep the eyesclosed. Do it for 10 minutes. It will keep away thetedium and the mind fresh.

In case you feel bored while reading, stand on yourlegs and have a walk for 10 – 15 minutes or whilewalking have a dialogue with your friend on the phoneor listen to sweet musical tunes on the TV.

Avoid negative thinking because it increases tensionsand keeps you always in depression. As compare topeople with positive thinking, the people with nega-tive thinking live a short life.

As compared to other people, the people with nega-tive thinking consume more food. As a result, in theirlater stages the chances of their taking ill increase.

Never bring a negative thought in your mind. Toachieve this end, keep yourself busy in the positiveactivities.

If you want, you can go near the nature to observethe divine beauty. See the greenery around or listento the chirping of birds, it will soothe your mind.

Whenever the mind is gripped by a negative thought,

see any interesting program on the TV or otherwise

read a good book or prepare an item of your choicein the kitchen. In case you become busy in otheractivities, it is only within 10 minutes that negativethoughts automatically flee.

Don’t talk to the people with negative thinking be-cause such people may not do any other thing butwill definitely create a problem for you,

The people with positive and optimistic thoughts re-main smart and fit without an iota of disappointment. They enjoy the bliss of perennial youth for a longerperiod of their life.

To keep fit, is a good exercise cycling. For ladies, moving the grinding stone and cycling for gents isthe best form of exercise. While going to office ormarket place or to the schools of your children orfor depositing your electricity bills etc. always makeuse of cycle. Cycling gives full exercise to the body, keeps away the ailments and keeps the body fit andsmart. Cycling protects against heart problems. Itkeeps the muscles of legs free from disorders andthrough perspiration effects the positive growth inthe matter of health.

Over eating is like a frivolous act for health. Gen-erally, in order to satiate our hunger, we devour all suchfood we find. While doing so, we do not take care That

what we are eating is beneficial or harmful for ourhealth. We take tea, coffee, namkeen and other friedfood such as kachori etc. with fondness but that is not aright habit because in that case our body is likely to

contact several diseases including mainly the diseaseof high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease or pertain-ing to kidney. Almost every year, a large no of peoplefall prey to such ailments and die an untimely death.

In this article, we have made a mention of all thesethings because we should not take excessive food and

should eat only such things which are not harmful butbeneficial for our body. Along with this, we will like to

say certainly something about fast. Food in our life hasspecial significance. Similarly, fast also has a importantplace in our life. In a way, fast is a friend of our healthbecause fasting provides an opportunity to rest for the

digestive system of our body. It also gives a chance torest for all our body organs if you want to keep a friendlyrelation with your good health, make some space forfast in your life.

There are a number of ways of fasting in our coun-try. You would like to tell our readers that skipping break-

fast or under eating or taking food only once a day cannot be called fast. While fasting, people generally take

a larger quantity of Aloo chat, pakoras, porridge of kuttu, ground nuts and such other things. Some peoplebreak their fast with staple food like chappatis’, daaland rice or other sweets or halwa. These ways of break-

ing fast are all together wrong because by doing it weinvite several diseases in our body. It also creates adisorder in our blood system and activates the silentsymptoms of disease in our body. Some people keepfast without taking water. This system of keeping fastis harmful for the body.

Since ancient times, Indian people have a system of keeping fast on the occasion of traditional festivities butthey do not know that fasting has a special significance

in respect of health. Mostly, only ladies keep fast andaim of every lady keeping such fast are quite different.

Unmarried girl keep fast with a wish of finding a goodlife partner, while the married women observe fast forlong life of their partners or to have an issue or to attainthe objective of peace and happiness for their family.Since, all such fasts kept by the ladies do not have anyobjective pertaining to their health, they are not able tomaintain good health even after keeping fast. The rea-son is that while keeping fast, they are least aware of the scientific importance of the same.

According to one’s religion and work, almost all the

persons should keep one fast in a week. All the days of week are auspicious in themselves. On Monday, thepeople who have loose temperament with advancing

age should keep fast because Monday is the day of moon and on this day, Sun, Moon and the earth are insuch a position that they have a peaceful effect on ourbody. In order to get good results of all our deeds, weshould keep fast on Tuesday. The people with weak mind and willing to attain spiritual knowledge should

keep fast on Wednesday because Wednesday is theday of attaining enlightenment. The people with shal-low thinking and mentality should keep fast on Thurs-

day. The patients of premature ejaculation or those suf-fering from Prameh should keep fast on Friday becauseFriday promotes virility, prowess, Weller, beauty and

quantity of semen. In order to get rid of all sorts of troubles and difficulties, one should keep fast on Satur-day. Sunday is the day of Sun. In order to get goodhealth and virility, one should keep fast on Sunday. Itshould be seen that for one day fast, no prior prepara-tion of any sort is required. One day fast can be ob-

Every human being sweats. Sweating is a good signfor the skin but some people sweat, they smell bad.

Their sweat has a odour which compels people to run

away from them. Not that they are not aware about the

odour. Such people sometimes suffer from inferiority

complex. This article is specifically for people with body

    odour.

It is seen that after doing a certain amount of physi-

cal work people sweat a lot. In fact their clothes get

drenched in the sweat and bad smell starts coming from

their body. Actually it’s a wrong belief that sweat smells.

The reality is that sweat does not have a pungent smell

but it does have some mild odour. After drying of sweat

the organic matter left is attacked by the bacteria and

they multiply in numbers. These bacteria live on the

skin and become active whenever given a chance.

This results in bad odour from the body. After tough

physical exercise, the acryin sweat glands found all over

our body become active. Any kind of physical exercise

makes these glands secrete a lot of water as compare

to organic matter. As a result bacteria in that lives on

the skin cannot become active most of the time and

there is no bad smell. But when a person is tensed,

nervous, angry or aggressive the body secretion of

epocrime sweat glands increases. Such glands are found

in a few areas of the body like underarms. Such glands

secrete cold water, this way the organic matter is left

back on the skin and the bacteria gets a chance to mul-

tiply and spread bad odour. People wearing tight fitted

or synthetic clothes smell the most as bacteria gets a

better opportunity to multiply. An important factor about

these glands is that they start multiplying when a per-

son enters teenage and follow them till they reach adult-

hood. Later these glands become inactive.

Normally it is said that men secrete sweat with bad

odour and women secrete sweet smelling sweat. It has

no basis. Both genders secrete similar sweat.

Some people use antiperspirants or deodorants to

get rid of the bad body odour. Antiperspirants are used

to stop the sweat from secreting and deodorants are

used to stop the bad smell in the sweat. Deodorants

normally help in increasing the bacteria present and an-

tiperspirants kill the bacteria but at times the skin gets

irritated by it and might face allergy.

    Why does the sweat stink?

When sweat is secreted from the skin pores it is

odourless. Sweat secretes urea, salt, protein and fat

with it. If the sweat on the skin does not evaporate, the

bacteria, fat and protein present in the sweat get acti-

vated and turn the sweat into ammonia. This is the rea-

    son that sweats starts stinking.

    Why do we Sweat?

Human skin has at least 20 lakh sweat glands un-

derneath. These sweat glands help secrete sweat. Ev-

ery gland has small minute tubes. These tubes open up

on the surface of the skin. Through these glands the

Sweating is a good sign for the skin but some people sweat,

they smell bad. Their sweat has a bad smell which compels people

to run away from them. Not that they are not aware about the

odour. Such people sometimes suffer from inferiority complex.

This article is specifically for people with body odour.

To digest wholesome food bodyutilises its own energy, but with juicy

and liquid food not much body en-

ergy is needed for digestion. Juicy

and liquid food play a major role to

give us energy. In liquid form of

foods, fruit juice is the best and it

helps take out the toxins from the

body. Good sugar is produced in the

body which makes the body strong.

    Why are fruit juices helpful

    Orange, sweet lime, grapes and

    pomegranate, juices are consid-

    ered the best. Sometimes grape

    fruit juice is considered benefi-

    cial when reducing weight.

For putting on some kilos orange,

    sweetlime, carrot, grapes and

    pomegranate juices are the best.

Milk, curd, matha are also con-

    sidered to be energetic liquids.

To gain weight take juices with

milk, curd and matha. This also

    helps in detoxifying the body.

Juices should be taken in three

hours interval. First glass of juice

at 6 am it should be lemon, with

20 grams of honey and water.

From morning 8 am to evening 8

pm juices can be taken. The time

is divided somewhat like this 8

    am, 11 am,2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm.

Initially take 250 grams of juice

    and gradually increase 50 grams

then the 2nd day increase 300

    grams, 3rd day 350 grams, 4th day

    400 grams.

Juices and liquids quantity canbe increased to 500 to 600

grams. It is advisable to take liq-

uid diet for 30-40 days. Always

rest after intake of juice or any

other liquid. Incase after 2 to 3

    hours stomach feels heavr and

pain occurs then take it as an in-

dication of over drinking of juice.

    Reduce the quantity next time.

Effect of Liquid diet on the body When liquid diet is started the

    body can show various sighns

    loke loose motion, weakness,

    stomachache , headache, sour

taste in the mouth, lack of sleep,

fever, body pain etc. All these

    symptoms are normal. Infact

these symptoms are a sign that

    the body is getting detoxicated.

Dont go for symptomatic treat-ment it will subside on its own.

Liquid diet will help reduce some

    weight but itsnothing to worry.

Grapes play a major role as most

of sugar comes from it. Sugar

    from grapes goes directly inthe

    veins and makes them strong.

When veins are strong the en-

    ergy reaches the other body

parts and thus starts the cleans-

ing of the body. Body is detoxi-

    fied.

    After Liquid Diet

After 30 to 60 days of liquid diet

    gradually start normal diet. Ini-

tially take only juice start with aschedule like 8. am, then 2.pm

and in the night at 8.pm. But in

between at 11 am and 5pm fruits,

curd, matha or milk can be taken.

    In fruits banana, papaya, apple,

cheeku, sweet lime and khajur (

soaked in water) also anjeer can

be taken. After some days take

liquid diet twice in a day at 8 am

and 4 pm. Otherwise in the af-ternoon and evening take normal

balanced diet. This kind of diet

will detoxify the body and you

    feel fresh.

Liquid diet will reduce the weight,

so don’t get upset in the further

    step weight will be gained.

    Vegetable and fruit juices have

    different effect on the body.Fruit

juices act fast in the body. Fruit juice detoxify the body and then

energise it. That is why fruit

juices are better than the veg-

    etable juices.

It’s called a mad-mad world. Everybodywants to do everything. There seems to be no full stop

for anyone. Here we can blame no one. In this com-

petitive world everyone has to perform and prove one-

self every second. So where is the time for our self. If

we take out sometime for ourselves and exercise regu-

larly it will keep our body fit and healthy, it will not only

make us feel good and energetic but it will help us look

better, attractive and our day will begin and end

smoothly. Very few people actually understand theimportance of keeping fit and follow it religiously. Such

people exercise regularly and keep their body healthy,

    flexible and strong.

ease is not good for the body. We need to think how to

many other problems with it. Obesity makes the body

look obscene though obesity can be controlled by regu-

    lar exercising.

Why Do We Gain Weight ?

Human skin is made of many layers. Lack of exer-

cise makes the skin thick which is not healthy for the

skin and of course for the body too. Gradually the body

starts gaining weight because of the accumulation of

skin. Finally it leads to obesity. Obesity anyways is an

invitation to diseases. Here comes the role of regular

exercising. Exercising means sweating and sweating

means that the pores in the skin open up and get space

to breath. In this process the skin layers do not accu-

mulate and we maintain a balanced weight. Right food

habits with regular exercise helps the body to keep fit

and healthy. Another very important point about exer-

cising is that it keeps you fresh, boosts your confidence

and you become a positive thinker.

a status symbol for youngster. This shows that the young-

sters are becoming more and more aware about the

benefits of exercise. Exercise is no doubt the best pos-

    b) Flexibility in the body

    c) The muscle strength

    d) Weight of the bones

    e) Blood pressure check up

He will also check the respiratory and the conditionof the heart. All the check ups are important as it will

help the trainer to set an exercising regime for you.

Stomach should be empty before starting any exercise.

O0ne hour exercising schedule should be enough to

regulate the body system. Exercising has a basic rule

which should be always followed and that is to begin

with a ten minute warm up exercises and end up with a

ten minute cool down exercises. Rest of the 40 minutes

Bleeding nose is a common problem seen in almost everyneighbourhood. It’s common specially in kids. With kids it’s a com-

mon problem but when it is seen in old and adult it becomes a cause

Nose bleeding is common in summer season. Sometimes people get

worried seeing so much of blood coming out of the nose and they

start figuring out the solutions. Medically it is known as Epistaxis.

On the inner surface of the nose are numerous thin blood capillar-

ies. They are very near to the skin. In a hilly during summers dryness

increases and due to the increase in the atmospheric air pressure the

nose can start bleeding. Nose bleeding can happen because of vari-

ous reasons for e.g in high blood pressure. Normally people advice to

lift the chin up while bleeding, it is said that bleeding immediately

stops. But this is not at all advisable as it does not stop bleeding but

some blood reaches the mouth. In fact one should press the front

portion of the nose with fingers and the head should be in a normal

sitting position. This will stop bleeding.

    Symptoms

Sitting under the sun for long period can cause high blood pressure

and nose can bleed. Nose bleeding can also start without any prior

    sign or symptom.

Before the bleeding starts head starts aching, some sounds start

coming in the ear, itching in the nose and the head starts spinning.

    Heatstroke can also cause bleeding.

Blood flow from nose can increase and decrease.

If bleeding is in excesss then blood can go in the stomach through

throat which can cause swelling on the stomach wall and vomits

High Blood Pressure is one of the commonest and serious diseasesof today. It is a dangerous disease as it sleeps in the body quietly for

years. It keeps damaging the body parts secretly. HBP is a cause of

great concern as by the time we get to know about it, the damage is

already done to the various body parts like the heart, kidneys, eyes and

the brain. HBP is a disease of the modern era. Initially this disease was

said to be rich people's disease but now it’s not so.Mostly people above

fourty years are suffering from it. The reason is that in this modern era

still this disease is not curable as it resides in the body without showing

any symptoms. HBP and heart disease go hand in hand. An adult whose

blood pressure is abnormal due to some internal reasons gradually reaches

to or some times crosses the normal blood pressure measure which is

    140/90.

According to various researches high bp patients are found the most

in Finland. European countries are also not left behind in this race. Morethan 10% people are suffering from hbp in these countries. Japan too is

not spared. Brazil has left all the countries behind if the check the per-

centage of hbp sufferers. Its has one crore thirty lacs hbp patients. Why

to leave India. India is catching up with this disease. Here adults are

facing a combination of diseases — high bp and diabetes. This combina-

tion could be deadly. India has left even Brazil in numbers as India has

approx. thirty crore people suffering from coronary artery disease and

every year approx. 20 % more CAD patients are added. If this disease

is not taken care of at time then in the coming years hbp will be included

as one of the deadliest diseases of the period. And surely India will be the

    first in the list.

We have already mentioned that this disease comes up only after the

age of fourty. In the first four months of the year blood pressure in-

creases in the patients. August, september and october are the months

when this disease troubles less. In the months of may, june , july the blood

gets purified as people sweat a lot. That is why the blood pressure in the

According to the yoga Guru Baba Ram Dev, weshould bring back all the hoarded money deposited in allinternational banks and he would try his best to mobilisethe consent of people as much as possible. He said, “Thismight be a political issue for anyone but it is an issue of national property for me. Thus, we are concerned aboutit. Therefore, there would be a voice raised against itfrom my side and people who support me on this matter. We would try our best to bring it back. We might compelour government to help us on this issue”. He added thatthe political and national leaders of our country are faraway from their duties, not focused and possess dualcharacter. Changes are not possible due to abuses or badlanguage and throwing of shoes. However, it is possibleonly through the votes. Looking at the current politicalscenarios and to get the good parties which are cleansedthoroughly for the changes, Baba Ramdev says that he isnot at all interested to gain a political seat in thecountry. However; he would not keep quiet and witnessthe wrong things happening around him. He would notremain silent on this matter at all.

    Q) Why are you trying to parity the political par-ties along with the practice of yoga? Are you tryingto introduce yourself to the domain of politics or plan-ning to form a political party?

    A) I was never a part of a political party in the past, Iwill not in current scenarios and do not intend to join it in near future also. However,in order to main-tain democracy and to purify the nature of our po-

    litical conditions prevailing in our

country, I would like to start off amovement. I am practicing yogaand delivering lectures on spiritual-

ism in order to make the politi-cal leaders strong so that theymight lead the country in aperfect and pious

manner. Thus, I am only en-lightening people aroundme. All those individuals wholove their country and are con-cerned about her, would surely join me and result would bevictorious for all of us. I can-

not keep silence and sit with-out taking any initiative. Iwould openly revolt and fightagainst the corrupted politicalscenarios and positions in thecountry .Therefore, one shouldnot view it from a political angle.

    Q) Are you trying tobuild an army of peopleagainst the political situa-

tion in the country? What is

    your primary goal?

    A) I do not have any motive to occupy a political seat.My main goal is to build a strong country with the help of Yoga Dharma. I would like to enlighten individuals to opentheir eyes and wake up from the deep sleep for the pre-vailing corruptions around them. I would like to see acountry which is very healthy, free from all kinds of cor-ruptions and frauds, wealthy and pious by nature. I wouldlike to encourage people to practice yoga, build a strongcharacter for themselves so that they, in turn, construct

a healthy country which is totally free from frauds, cor-

ruptions, dishonesty and criminals. This should comefrom the side of all those who love their country morethan anything else. It should be a movement from theentire country. They should fight against those politicalleaders who are ethically not strong and should not allowthem to rule the country. I would perform only thoseactions which are quite similar to that of Chanakya orMaharshi Vasistha or Dadichi. It is the question of anation. Therefore, there should not be any question formy motives or goals. The entire nation is my family and Irequest each and everyone, whether the person is a po-litical leader or a journalist or a young man or a man, to

There are manyfingers raised against the central government abouttheir lenient behaviors also. However, they claimthat the Government is looking into the case veryseriously. However; the truth is that the governmentcannot comment anything at the moment becausethe case is being examined properly from all angles.

Ram Jethmalani and five other well-known per-sonalities filed a case against the black money de-posited in the foreign banks and against the cor-rupted people. They wanted him case to be exam-ined thoroughly. Germany and America had exam-ined the cases for the wealth that has been depos-

ited in other countries. India has not yet done any-thing on this. We all know the truth that there is atotal amount of 70 lakh crores of money is presentin the banks. America and France had pressurizedother banks to return their country’s wealth. Themoney present in the Swiss bank would be usefulto bring back our country back on its track of de-velopment and progress. Union of the individual soul with the supreme and bring-ing them closer to each other is called Yoga and devotion orworship is one of its medium. Not only the common man buteven the enlightened and well read people of India and coun-tries of the North cherish this notion that Rishi Dayanand, theforerunner of India Renaissance was no doubt a great theologist,

propagator of Vedas, social reformer and harbinger of nationalawareness in India but they doubt that he was also a greatdevotee and a dedicated, humble worshiper like a beetle at thelotus feet of divine who was treading the path of boundlessdevotion to god. It is for this reason that a number of bookshave been written to highlight the programs of Swami Dayanand, particularly those pertaining to his nationalism, social reforms,Vedic interpretation and negation of religious hypocrisy etc. butonly a few books are their to enunciate his role of a dedicateddevotee who was treading the path of devotion. I could findonly one such book titled ‘Prabhu Bhakt Dayanand Aur UnkeAdhyatamik Updesh’ written by Acharya Bhadrasen of Ajmer.People do have a doubt that the element of devotion finds aplace in the programs of Rishi Dayanand and that of the Arya

Samaj which was created by him. Late Surindra Nath(the sonof the great martyr Shri Raj Pal ji), the former governor of Punjab, also had expressed such a doubt, many years ago at theend of meeting organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of Rishi Dayanand in DAV College, Chandigarh when he has askedme a question of that sort. My reply to the question was that if Dayanand did not have absolute dedication and devotion to god,he would have never been successful in accomplishing the task of that magnitude as he did in the short span of his life. Tocollect such devotional references from his life requires a sepa-rate effort and time.

Before getting an introduction of Bhaktivad of RishiDayanand, it would be appropriate that we acquire a brief knowl-

edge of the history of bhaktitatva in India. In Vedic andupnishadic literature, we often find a word uppasana (worship)instead of bhakti (devotion). of the meaning of Vedas, he also wrote a book calledSanskar vidhi. In which complete details of all the ritu-als to be performed by the house holders have beengiven. While on one hand he wrote the first part of hissatyarth prakash to serve as a guide of Arya Dharmaand Arya Jeevan, he wrote the 2nd part of the book inorder to delve deep into the intricacies of different sectsof the world. While for an entry into the field of wor-ship of god, he wrote a chapter on Sandhyopasana inhis panch maha yajna vidhi, he also wrote a separatebook titled Arya bhi Vinay to explain the element of bhakti, to which the attention is given only by a fewpeople.

In fact, through this book Rishi has clearly specifiedthe actual form of devotion of god as propounded in theVedas. He felt that from all the four Vedas, a compila-tion of such mantras amounting to 50 from each of themshould be prepared which may highlight the devotion of the supreme and the exposition of Pranav bhav towardsHim. As regards the mantras of the Rig-Veda and theYajurved, he could explain and give their meaning but

for paucity of time, he could not do that in respect of the mantras of the Sam Veda and the Uttharveda.

However, the height of devotion, faith, dedicationand submission of Dayanand towards his deity was para-mount which is reflected in Aryabhivinay. The people, who find dryness in the thought and use of Dayanandand lack of sentiments and excess of logic in him, shouldstudy Aryabhivinay. In the explanation of the first man-tra of the Rig-Veda that is Agni Mide Purohitam(Rig-Veda 1/1/1), as given in this book, Rishi has mentionedas many names and qualities of god, stay undiminishedas compared to the splendor of 1000 of Vishnu sahsranaam. Solicitation of Dayanand to god is also miracu-

lous. His feelings of public welfare and desire of wellbeing for the entire humanity doesn’t allow him to ask anything for himself. Moreover, in the explanation of the following month ‘Vayam Jaimay Twaya Pooja’, headdresses god as Maharajadiraaj (King of Kings). Hewants an indivisible, monarchial empire from him whichis not a dictatorial entity of some Hitler, Mussolini orChurchill. But the governance of noble persons whichmay be inspired by the feeling of welfare of all and theentire humanity. In this mantra, he wants liberty for hiscountry and praise to god in order to get rid of the sla-very. At every step in this book, we find a glimpse of the humbleness of a devotee and majesty of god.

It is one of the other salient features of the devotionof Rishi Dayanand that it wants a devotee to be ener-getic, vigorous, glorious and powerful. Contrary to it, inthe bhakti of middle ages, we find the tendency of hu-mility, inferiority, lassitude and self condemnation whichis responsible for his inertness, languor, worthlessness, inaction and parasitic attitude. In this conext, Dr.Sampoornanand has rightly written that while in theVedic thought, a man has been accepted as a pious, illustrious, enlightened, prosperous, non defined, unvanquished, even in the face of death and an ever

lasting individual soul, the Puranic bhakti in the wordsof poet Soordas has filled the devotee with inferiorityand asks him to consider himself as insignificant. Seethe following lines of this poet that is Prabhu Mein SubPatitan Ko Nayak aur Mein Sub Patitan ko Teeko etc. This feeling of cowardice to consider oneself as sinneror the top most of them emerged from such formula-

tions of Puranic bhakti. For example, there is one suchline which reads as follows – ‘ ikiks¿ge~ ikidekZ¿e~ ikikRek  iki lEHko%A’. A Puranic bhakt speaks of himself as asinner, one who does the sinful karmas’, is full of sinfulthoughts and one who has emerge from the sin. Is it notso that speaking in those terms for himself, he is sayingin other words that his parents are depraved personsand he himself is an illegally born child. Vedic bhakti aspropounded by Dayanand is very distant from the feel-ings of the inferiority and self condemnation. It makesa devotee generous, illustrious and vigorous. Bhakti of non attributive and formless god is not deplorable.

Avatarvadi acharyas and devotees who believe in agod with specific attributes, considered ignored, ne-glected and at times even ridicule such devotees whoconsider god to be devoid of specific attributes andworship such a god. But remember it that the Nirgunsaints of the middle ages like Kabir, Nanak, Dadu,Raidass, Tukaram, Namdev etc considered him to bedevoid of any form, figure or gross body and for thatmatter, an eternal soul and an unborn entity without form, figure and attributes and fully surrendered themselves. They were not in any way inferior to those Sakaarvadidevotees. But see their impudence. Even Tulsidass, whowas considered to be a model of modesty and dignity, spoke the words of condemnation for the Nirgun devo-tees. Nathpanthi sadhus who call that unseen and invis-

ible god as Alakhniranjan, were called by them asneech(of low birth) in these lines ‘ rqylh vy[kfg dk y[kS jkeuke tiq uhpA’. Certainly, to call these Nirgun vadeseas neech is the high of their impudence. These devo-tees were not in any way superior to Meera, Sur, Tulsiand Narsi Mehta.

This matter of controversy raised by devotees andsaints of Middle Ages is an old thing. The devotion of Raja Ram Mohan Rai and his follower MaharishiDevendra Nath Tagore(father of Mahakavi RavindraNath Tagore) who were the leading figures of BrahmSamaj and contemporaries of Rishi Dayanand was notin any way inferior to those who worshipped a god with

specific attributes. While discharging his duties as ahouse holder and fulfilling all his worldly obligations,Devendra Nath used to go to Shimla every year to leada life of solitude and devotion to god in the loneliness of the mountains. Is it not the devotion of his sakaarvadi(anidol worshipper) Ram Krishan Paramhans towardsDevendra Nath who was an honest and simple personand without any effect of worldly ways of fraud, dis-simulations and cravings and who was called a Maharishiby Rishi Dayanand himself, something objectionable anddeplorable? There is one incident of his life and it is as

    Waist Bath

Waist bath is used in stomach related diseases. Most

of the diseases arise from the stomach. If you check

them in the very beginning, you can protect yourself

from several diseases. For Kati Snan, fill a big tub with

water. The level of water should be such that the hips

may dip in it and water may cover stomach above the

naval. The tub should be such that one may sit in itcomfortably. Keep fresh or Luke warm water in the

tub according to the weather. In the beginning, you can

sit in it for 5 – 10 minutes. Gradually you can increase

the time up to half and hour. Rap a towel with rugged

surface around your waist and rub the body below the
