    For those players who have fond memories of club pro-ams, there will be

    recognition that this tournament evokes the tension and excitiement of those

    past times. In this case the journey has the potential to end under the spotlight

    of a capacity audience and TV cameras because the nal destination is the

    prestigious ranking event - The World Open, previously the Grand Prix and won

    in 2009 by World Champion Neil Robertson.

    This is your chance to break through into the top ranks of the game and rub

    shoulders with the likes of Robertson, Hendry, Selby and Ronnie OSullivan.

    Club qualiers will take place prior to the World Open qualier at the

    World Snooker Academy (Shefeld).

    THE RULES

    An exciting new format giving 32 amateur players

    the opportunity to compete in a

    World Snooker Ranking Event

    32 amateurs will be made up of:

    20 club qualiers

    2 ladies

    2 juniors

    2 former world champions

    6 international players

    Snooker Club Qualiers

    Club qualifying competitions to be run in conjunction with Rileys and

    Independent Snooker Clubs nationwide to nd

    20 players to compete in the World Open

    Club qualiers to be nominated to World Snooker no later than 31 July, 2010.

    1. All players must be aged 16 years or older on or before 1 August 2010.

    2. Competition to be run with a minimum of 16 entrants.3. All matches will be the best of 5 frames.

    4. All players must not be competing on the WPBSA Main Tour 2010/2011.

    5. There will be one winner per club.

    6. Players will be allowed to enter more than one qualier, but may only qualify once.

    7. There must be an ofcial Tournament Director overseeing each event (local Referee/league representative etc).

    8. Dress code will be at the discretion of the club, however once qualied, all players will be subject to World Snookers dress code and LogoCode of Conduct.

    9. Each Player at all times shall observe the Ofcial Rules of the Game and must play at a reasonable and proper pace.

    10. The draw will be on display in the venue and all games must be played in order of draw.

    11. Any player not in attendance when their match is due to be played will be eliminated.

    12. Players equipment shall comply with the spirit and principle of snooker as a sport; that is players compete on an equal footing.

    13. No substitutes are allowed at any stage of the competition.

    14.A Player will be responsible for obtaining his own visa or other requirement to participate in any club qualifying event, and responsible fortheir own costs.

    15. World Snooker reserve the right to refuse or cancel any entry at any stage throughout the event. To apply general rules of snooker in allgames as decided by them. To set dress and appearance standards for all rounds, or at promotional nights as arranged by the organisers orthe ofcial sponsors. To provide patches or other such advertising material bearing the event or sponsors logos for the specic purpose ofbeing worn by the players at all rounds and at any other stages of the event. To address any eventuality not directly covered in the rules anddeal with entirely at their discretion. To disqualify a player or players for any unsporting behaviour which is likely to cause upset or distractionto an opponent, act as arbiters in the case of a dispute and to apply a decision which will be absolutely nal. WORLD SNOOKERSDECISION IS FINAL IN ALL MATTERS APPERTAINING TO THE EVENT.

    16. The club qualiers who qualify for the World Open will be required to pay all costs associated with competing in the World Open includingthe 300 entry fee.

    17. All players who qualify for the televised stages of the World Open will be required to wear a logo patch during all matches in which theplayer competes in the World Open.

    18. By participating in the event, all players will be deemed to have accepted the rules of the event and have accepted the absolutejurisdiction of the organisers. All players also agree to abide by the rules of World Snooker.

    World Open Qualiers

    (21-24 August 2010, World Snooker Academy, EIS Shefeld)

    All 32 amateur players will be required to complete a World Snooker entry form before competing in the World Open qualiers.

    Random draws will be performed before each Round.

    World Snooker qualiers will take place on the 21-24 August 2010, at the World Snooker Academy in Shefeld, with a roundstructure as follows:

    Round 1 Last 128 32 amateurs + Members 65-96 32 matches

    Round 2 Last 96 Winners R1 + Members 33 64 32 matchesRound 3 Last 64 Winners R2 + Members 1 32 32 matches (11 held over to Finals)

    The televised stages will take place on the 18-26 September 2010, at the SECC in Glasgow
