What is Matter?Matter is anything that
takes up space.
Look around your classroom and tell your partner five different things that take up
space.
3 states of matterThere are 3 states, or kinds, of
matter.
1. Solid
2.Liquid
3. Gas
Solids
Solid is matter that keeps its same shape and size.
Where are Solids?
Click on the matter that is a solid. If you hear a clapping
sound you are correct!
LiquidsLiquid is matter that takes the
shape of its container.* Remember the container is a solid!
If you pour milk from a carton into a glass it will have a new shape!
Where are Liquids?Click on the matter that are liquids.

GasesGases have no real shape. Gas
takes the shape of its container.
The air all around us is a gas.
Where are Gases?Click on the matter that is a gas. If you hear a clapping sound
you are correct! HINT: Think about what is inside
