The overarching aim of the school is to ‘create a lifelong love of learning’ within students applying the core values of responsibility, commitment, respect and integrity. This aim and these values permeate the school and are visible in the classroom and beyond each day.

Principal of the school, Mr. Mark Thomas, wholeheartedly believes that “engaging students in a fun stimulating environment is the key, academic and personal success simply follows”.

Established in 2005 for international students aged 1 to 18, The British School of Guangzhou quickly gained widespread recognition for excellence, helping graduates enter some of the world’s top universities.

The school is housed on an exclusive 39,000m2 lakeside campus located 25 minute drive from the centre of Guangzhou City. Facilities nurture individual academic ability with a wide range of performing arts and sports amenities available to challenge student ambitions daily.

In an independent survey administered by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in recent years, 97% of parents said their children find school interesting and engaging and a full 100% of staff said they enjoy working with their colleagues.

Currently the school has around 1400 international students from 53 countries, making The British School the largest international school in Guangzhou and the clear school of choice for international families relocating to the south of China.

World-Class CollaborationsIn 2017, the school was also excited to announce Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the launch of the science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) programme.

In 2014, The British School of Guangzhou was one of 10 schools worldwide chosen to help launch Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with The Juilliard School, New York. This ongoing collaboration gives the school a now firmly embedded music curriculum created with Juilliard School, a world leader in performing arts education.
