I am often asked one very fun-damental question pertaining to Young Living, which, when answered, usually leads to another, more important question. The origi-nal question—What distinguishes Young Living from other essential oil companies?—is one I thoroughly enjoy answering because it allows me to share my passion and vision for the company that Mary and I started nearly two decades ago.

What separates Young Living from anybody else is my absolute commitment to providing the truest, purest essential oils—often through our own harvesting and distilling—in order to enhance life for those who use these precious gifts.

This commitment has led to six farms on three continents. Knowing where these oils are coming from—knowing the soil and the seeds that generate them—and guaranteeing correct harvesting through hands-on participation is something to which no other essential oil com-pany can lay claim. It is why Young Living is unique.

And it is not just the oils. Everything I do—every product we release at Young Living—is a personal guarantee that we provide the best natural-health solutions.

The next question I am asked is: “Why do you do this? What drives your commitment?” The answer is simple: I have made it my personal quest to do all I can to ensure that people obtain what is rightfully theirs—the realization of true, intense happiness.

For me, this is about much more than just oils or products or down-lines or making a lot of money; this is about the ability to live a joyful, happy, influential life. The products and the business are simply the tools that help get us there.

I encourage you to work hard to obtain the happiness that is rightfully yours.

Essentially yours,

Australians Connie Hellbig and Kathleen Hamill joined hundreds of Young Living distributors for a week of relaxation and learning during Young Living’s Global Leadership Cruise in the Caribbean, March 2–10.

Founder’s Message

Climbing aboard Royal Caribbean’s beautiful, international ship Serenade of the Seas, the accomplished distrib-utors set sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a week of revitalization, transformation, and one-of-a-kind learning.

For most, the stunningly blue water and foliage-covered islands of the Caribbean would typically be the attractions of such a getaway, but with Gary and Mary Young onboard, the greatest attractions were on the Serenade of the Seas.

“Having Gary and Mary on the cruise with us—and educating us—is absolutely huge,” said Pamela Hunter, a Gold distributor from Illinois. “Also, it’s fun to be on the cruise with distributors from around the world because we have become such great friends.”

During the cruise Gary and Mary spent hours teaching eager distribu-tors about life, Young Living’s new products, and unique insights into building a powerful and successful Young Living business.

“I am a relatively new member to Young Living, and I really appreciate and enjoy the opportunity that I have had here to personally get to know Gary and Mary and to learn from them,” said German distributor Ulrich Ziegler.

Because the Caribbean offers so much beauty and opportunity to re-cuperate from daily life, much of the training and activities took the distributors deep into the waters or far into the islands. During an excursion on the beau-tiful island of Grenada, distributors boarded more than 40 buses and took a delightful tour of the island’s scenic loop, which consisted of a stop at a nutmeg processing facility, where the facility’s employees described the process used to distill nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon oils and spices.

In addition to Grenada, the cruise

gave distributors the opportunity to shop, snorkel, and sightsee on and around the breathtaking islands of Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Croix, and St. Thomas.

“These trips broaden our perspec-tive as to what is possible,” said Angela Shim, a Silver distributor from Canada. “It’s on these trips and at the convention where we really feel the heart of the company.”

To register for upcoming events, including the 2012 International Grand Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, please visit www.youngliving.com.

Nearly 500 Young Living distributors from around the world sailed the dreamlike Caribbean seas as participants in the company’s Global Leadership Cruise, held during the first week of March.

Ecuador’s new Platinum distributor Leonardo Carrion enjoyed the beautiful Caribbean scenery with his daughter, Paola Carrion.

Simiane-la-Rotonde, FranceAll distributors are invited to come to the 20-Year Celebration of the farm in France July 4-7, which in-cludes a tour of the lavender fields in Southern France led by Gary Young and ending with a day of training in Marseille.

The France staff is currently con-structing a new cover over the ex-isting housing on the farm. There are also plans to install a storyboard that will display the farm’s history and the story behind Young Living’s proprietary distillation process.

Guayaquil, EcuadorThe Finca Botanica Aromatica farm is in the middle of the rainy season, and the monsoon season will begin in another 45–60 days. Reservoirs are filling, crops are growing very well, and the field personnel are working hard to stay on top of everything. The relocation of the NovaVita Clinic & Spa is complete, and the new apartments below the spa should be completed within the next 60 days.

Mona, UtahSeveral new modernization projects are underway at the Whispering Springs farm, including a Western wagon-pole barn and a show-horse facility. Farm employees are excited about upcoming events and look for-ward to showcasing the farm during the convention, which will include the Family Farm Day celebration.

St. Maries, IdahoNew projects are underway this spring, including the expansion of the existing lodge facility, a new equipment shed, and a second greenhouse project.

Naples, IdahoThe staff at the Highland Flats farm is busily preparing for the tree reforestation. Nearly 40,000 blue spruce, Douglas fir, and Western red cedar trees will be planted dur-ing the upcoming planting season at both Idaho farms.

The D. Gary YoungBusiness Building System

Gather my resources, information, and knowledge about my product and business opportunity.

Achieve my first goal by sharing and teaching my first contact. Overcome the fear of speaking to others and of rejection. Share on the level and with the information I have at the moment.

Reach out to everyone I meet as well as my immediate family and friends.

Yes, I have something to share with the world. Know and believe in the product first before I study the marketing plan.

Yes, I can do this. I am passionate about my purpose, plans, and goals.

Open my mind to the unlimited possibilities of my po-tential and believe in myself. If I don’t believe in myself, no one else probably will either.

Understand that if I’m going to succeed, it depends on me—my commitment and discipline.

Never expect my organization to do any more or differ-ently than I do. I am the example. Learn to be proud of being in second place. Am I considerate and kind? Can people follow my example?

Give more information, direction, service, and help to my organization every day.

Remember:

• You need a solid foundation on which to build your structure. Give your people support and do not ignore anyone in your organization.

• Can you build this business without an active sponsor? Of course! • Get excited about the product.• If you stay on the path, you will make it.• Sometimes you get discouraged—build one step at

a time, take smaller bites, and stay focused on your goal.• Sometimes you feel stuck and don’t know what to do.

Call your sponsor and ask for help.• If you feel like others are eroding your efforts, be an

example and always consider others.• Can it really be this good? Yes! Have hope. Don’t let

others take it from you.• Don’t try to tell new distributors everything at once—

don’t data dump. You can overwhelm others if you have no plan. Put your plan in place and know what

you need to do to help the person want to be part of Young Living.

• Please help your distributors. Work to build a suc- cessful business within 150 miles of your home until you can afford to support others who live farther away.

• Use team power.• What we put out is what we get back. If you look at

each other as friends and brothers and sisters, we won’t have problems between downlines. Make

service more important than money.• We have a responsibility to share what we know and

what we have. Don’t hide your light under a bushel.

Build a Slique Business; if your country doesn’t have the Slique products, use the same model with the products you do have.

Goal 1: Sponsor three new people with the Slique kit.Goal 2: Help those three new people each sponsor three new people.Goal 3: Enjoy the rewards that come from fulfilling the first two goals.

Make the effort. Unless you change something in your life, your life won’t change. The opportunity is there; you just have to put yourself forward. Do whatever it takes to make it happen as you believe in what you are doing.

SINGAPOREThroughout February Young Living Singapore conducted five training sessions that covered various product categories and the compensation plan. The region also held a half-day open house event that was accom-panied by product training, product sampling, and on-site promotions.

Young Living Singapore distributors eagerly attended the South East Asia Regional Conference, held March 23–24, with the theme “Vitality: Live Today with Wellness.” Guest speak-ers included Dr. Cole Woolley from Young Living Global Headquarters; Jim O’Reilly from Young Living Australia; and Carrie Donegan and Elena Yordan, Young Living leaders from New York.

MEXICOYoung Living Mexico continues to prosper as leaders bloom all over the country. Mexico has experienced much success from the meetings that are continually being held in Leon, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

Young Living Mexico is also excited to announce its newest Silver dis-tributor: Leticia Omaña Crespo from Morelia, Michoacan.

CANADAAs Young Living Canada has devel-oped over the last few years, much of its success is a result of our amazing leaders—each of whom understands the mission and vision of Young Living. Because of these examples, new leaders are emerging who share the same desire of fulfilling Young Living’s vision in Canada.

AUSTRALIAEighty Australians attended the 2012 Global Leadership Cruise, making Australia the largest international contingent on board, second only to the U.S. Known for their distinct enthusiasm and friendliness, the Aussies thrived by networking with other distributors on the cruise.

PERUYoung Living Peru continues to pre-pare for its grand opening June 8–9 at the Swissotel resort in Lima. During the two-day event, Young Living’s Peruvian leaders will host a unique celebration for local distributors and Young Living members from around the world.

So began Mary Young’s perceptive presentation on building a powerful and rewarding Young Living business as she took the stage during the 2012 Global Leadership Cruise held March 2–10 in the Caribbean.

“The bottom line is that you can

help so many, many people, and helping people is what it is all about,” explained Mary to a crowd of more than 450. “But you can help people and not have any financial benefit and then wonder what you’re going to do to pay the bills. That is not very

motivating and it does not do much for your psyche, for your emotional well-being, or for your health. Being able to have money to pay for the things you need and to help your friends and family is extremely motivating; it’s extremely healing to the soul.”

Giving insightful perspective into the beginnings of her success, Mary said that she relied on two things from the beginning: a burning desire to become successful and to help others and her God-given ability to talk to people.

“From the beginning my attitude was always one of ‘I don’t know how you feel, and I don’t know if you have an interest, but I think that what I have will benefit you. I think it’s something that you would like.’ For me, it was all about them.”

Drawing on the focus of treating people with respect and helping them, Mary was able to build a very powerful organization by teaching her leaders to “look down and help those in their organization, because

the only way to have time freedom—coupled with financial freedom—is to help those in your organization help those in their organization.”

Mary teaches these three easy, but critical, principles for success:

1. Focus on the person, not on yourself or on how much money you can make.

2. Begin by talking to family and friends.

3. Follow up.

“When people know you care about them, they will listen,” Mary taught. “You never know who you’re going to touch; you never know who’s going to be your builder. I will tell you this: It always comes back if you think of other individuals and how you can help them be successful. If you help others get what they want, you will get what you want, too.”

Ann Weaver is back and her contribu-tions are making Young Living stronger and better prepared for an exciting, successful future.

Having left the company more than a decade ago in pursuit of more formal education and valuable experience, Ann, Young Living’s new vice president of human resources, possesses the knowledge and tools necessary to propel the company and its employees to new heights.

“I am so excited to be back at Young Living, where I initially developed the human resource process,” explains Ann. “It is exciting to be part of the current transformation and to see how everything is evolving.”

Ann began working for Young Liv-ing in 1995, when only 18 employees were responsible for its day-to-day operations. Within two short years, Ann had not only become the direc-tor of human resources but had also created the company’s policies and procedures and all things that are encompassed by the department.

For this mother of seven—and grandmother of eight—helping people grow, as well as Young Living, is what her daily activities are all about.

“A lot of great people work for Young Living,” says Ann. “I really enjoy mentoring employees and help-ing them reach their goals, helping them achieve something they never thought possible. Because of them, now is an exciting time to be part of Young Living.”

From GLC: Mary Young Gives Tips on Building a Powerful Business

“We need money in the hands of good people, and we would like to see all of you become very financially successful.”

Your View: How Do You Build a Powerful and Successful Young Living Business?

Scott and Brenda Schuler, Diamond, USA“We are only as successful as our team. If you’re going to do this business and you don’t support your team, you’re not going to be successful. It’s really that simple. But don’t do everything for

them; teach your team how to survive for themselves.Find out what your fears are, because if you don’t know

what’s holding you back, that is exactly what’s going to hold you back from succeeding.

Finally, really listen to someone instead of figuring out what you’re going to say. If you sit and truly listen, people can tell that you care. If you give them lip service with an ulterior motive, they can also tell.”

Yuko Kimura, Executive, Japan“Gary taught about being and living in the present time. I started doing that and using the present time oil blend. I also came to the realiza-tion that unless I change, nothing else around me is going to change.”

Gabriel Bitar, Platinum, Ecuador“I give three to five classes a week talking about business, the company, how to order, and the oils. My downline and I are constantly doing trainings and classes.

We use the Internet! We give free webinars and have hundreds of people listening; I recently had people listening in Ecuador and Peru from about 20 different cities, which is a lot more effective than having just 15 or 20 people at one meeting. Sometimes I have 150 people per day listening to the webinar.”

Pamela Hunter, Gold, USA“I really go about my business doing the entire lifestyle. So when I am working to sign up someone, I spend individual time educating them on products they can use in their lifestyle and with their entire family.”

Slique Tour Rolls Through New York

During two days in February, more than 2,000 Young Living distributors and community members met in New York as the Slique™ Tour continued to roll throughout the United States.

In Melville, New York, Gary Young shared the stage with three women who gave inspiring and unique pre-sentations on achieving wellness, purpose, abundance, and vitality.

To begin the meeting, Mary Young provided valuable insight into building a successful family life and business, alluding to the idea that balance in life—and obtaining happiness—is predicated not only on being successful within the walls of your office but also on being successful within the walls of your home.

Gary discussed the correlation between stress and weight gain and how increased health is achieved just by shedding a few unnecessary pounds and inches, both of which place considerable strain on the human body. Using the Slique kit is a simple way to effectively and ulti-mately lose pounds and inches.

Following Gary’s presentation on the Slique kit products, Young Living’s senior manager of regional marketing, Ashlin Burton, shared her story about her 25-year weight-loss struggle, desire for a healthy lifestyle, and how joining the Young Living family changed her life. In 2010 Ashlin quit smoking after 25 years and lost 85 pounds with the help of the Young Living employee wellness program. Having currently maintained her weight loss for more than one year, Ashlin enthusiastically invited all in attendance to join her in participating in the Slique Challenge.

Also joining Gary at the Melville event was Christi Bonds-Garrett, MD, who continued her masterful exposé from the 2011 Convention about the healing effects of vibrational therapy and essential oil frequencies on the human body.

The day before the tour in Melville, Gary took to the stage in Liverpool, New York, to recognize Diamond distributors Chip and Kathy Kouwe, prove the central role of Young Living’s farms in guaranteeing the highest-quality oils, and teach about newly developed products that Young Living has released to combat America’s obesity epidemic.
