The analysis of adverts

La Roux

The advert has reviews of the albums from different magazines and newspapers. Also it comes with a rating out of 5 which is usually above a 3

There are two parts of the advert, as it is split in to two one part is the image of the artist and the other is the reviews of the album.

This part of the advert is a copy of the album cover.

The writing that is on the other part of the advert follows the same motif as the album so it flows through out. That includes the font and the colour.

The colour scheme of the advert flows through it. Its mainly brown and red/orange. Which is reflecting the colour of Ellie Jackson’s hair.

La Roux

The La Roux advert was found in the magazine Q. Q mainly feature adverts such as SIMPLY RED who are an English soul band and THE STONE ROSES who are also an English rock band. Conor Maynard isn’t a band and mainly does electrop pop/hiphop, which is very different from the musical talents that appear in Q magazine therefore people that read Q magazine don’t really find that type of music appealing and it wouldn’t benefit Conor. However it may benefit him if customers of Q magazine see the magazine and actually listen to his songs and if they like it they may buy it too.

But overall I don’t think that this is the right magazine for Conor to gain more CD sales as his target audience wouldn’t read this particular magazine.

Conor MaynardThe album cover and the magazine advert have the same colour flowing through it. It blends the whole thing together

The advert is to buy the album online on the itunes website. It also shows that his target audience which are young teenager such as girls, won’t have the money to purchase a CD because it costs less to buy it online. So it would be more viable for the advert to be done to advertise the album on itunes.

Conor Maynard doesn’t have many magazine adverts as he is a fairly new artist and this was the only one I could find. However this does show a basic bench mark for the sort of design that I should use on my digipak; to follow the colour scheme and that it is quiet plain and now extreme colours are used. However I may choose to challenge this convention by adding more bright colours to it as the song is quite bouncy.

Conor Maynard

The type of magazines that Conor has already been on is Shout and Vervegirl.

Shout is a magazine that target towards young teenage girls as there are other bands that are targeted at the same age group as Conor such as Union J.

Vervegirl is a Canadian in-school magazine based in Toronto for young women aged 13–24. Vervegirl engages young women through lifestyle, global causes, fashion, entertainment, career, health and beauty

Justin BieberThe CD cover and the advert don’t have the same colour scheme which is different to the other CD adverts that I have looked at

It says available everywhere which would encourage more people to buy it as it seems that a lot of people would buy it as it is everywhere

Justin BieberThe type of magazines that Justin bieber appears in is mainly again magazines that appeal to girls between the ages of 12 to 19. So the colours that the magazine should be is bright and engaging as that is what would attract more of the target audience. Colours such aaas purple, pink, red and black.

However as he got older he started to appear in magazines that are more sophisticated and made him more famous in other audiences (the older market)
