The 50+ Show is supported by a major marketing campaign, which includes newspaper, magazine, direct mail and internet advertising, as well as the use of the show’s 120,000-strong database of past visitors. Following in-depth analysis of advertising response data, the show’s marketing plan includes Saga magazine, the Daily Mail, Mail On Sunday, Daily Express, Sunday Express, Mature Times, Retirement Today and University of The Third Age magazine, as well as very extensive regional press advertising in each target market. Visitors can register for complimentary tickets via The 50+ Show website, by phone, email or by registering on-the-door. Aside from our marketing campaign to attract individual visitors, we also have an extensive campaign to GTOs. We invite GTOs at a wide range for organisations such as Oddfellows, U3A, Probus, Lions, WI, Townswomen’s Guilds etc, inviting them to visit for travel ideas and to organise a day trip to the show for their members. We also exhibit at events aimed at the GTO market.

Travel Habits

• When we asked visitors why they visit The 50+ Show, consistently over 90% give travel ideas as a reason for attending.• We also asked them how many holidays/breaks they plan to take the following year and the results were: More than 5 holidays - 28% 3 to 4 holidays - 48% 1 to 2 holidays - 21% • Our research also shows that our audience take a large number of day trips and they do this ‘off peak’. Many will take their grandchildren. 28% of visitors take their grandchildren on visits at least every few months, while 83% take them at least once or twice a year. • 10% of visitors organise group travel and over 30% regularly take part in organised trips.
