From the Pastor’s Desk… The Third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete's Sunday, a Sunday of joy ... Who is about to arrive is the answer to all doubt, crisis and insecurities. Heaven and earth come together in the same point of light, in the same person. The Messiah fills us with hope and strengthens our identity as recipients of all the promises of God: One day we shall see salvation in all its fullness ... And for this we rejoice. But our joy is not one based on external or circumstantial issues. Our joy does not depend on the exterior, it is not accidental, nor sentimental. Our joy is intentional, nourished by the wisdom that comes from above and is enriched by the feeling of those who feel loved. Our joy comes from within us. Perhaps we are surrounded by difficult, incomprehensible, implausible and even dire situations. Even so nothing can touch our souls if we do not allow it, nothing can take away our joy, our hope "because it is Christ who lives in me". That's why I say "rejoice St. Aloysius". Our Messiah, our deliverer is coming ... Rejoice also for the presence of our devotions, whose purpose is to accompany us in the journey of faith. Rejoice for your groups, ministries and activities that in their work seeks to give praise to a true God and build the salvation of their children. Rejoice St. Aloysius for our choirs, whom at each Mass produce joy. Each social service answers the needs of God’s children. For each devotional act as our processions, for each liturgy leading over sacramental life like our parish’s reconciliations, various acts of receiving the ashes or processions ... For all this and much more rejoice St. Aloysius and never doubt the love that God has for you ... To all of you brothers, a happy Sunday of Gaudete, prepare yourself that the Lord is coming!

Del Escritorio del Párroco… El Tercer Domingo de Adviento es el Domingo de Gaudete, de alegría, de gozo… Quien está por llegar es la respuesta a toda duda, crisis e inseguridad. El cielo y la tierra se unen en un mismo punto de luz, en una misma persona. El Mesías nos llena de esperanza y refuerza nuestra identidad como recipientes de todas las promesas de Dios: Algún día veremos la salvación en toda su plenitud…

Y por esto nos alegramos. Pero nuestro gozo no es uno basado en asuntos exteriores ni circunstanciales. Nuestro gozo no depende de lo exterior, no es accidental, ni sentimentalista. Nuestro gozo es intencional, se nutre de la sabiduría que viene de lo alto y se enriquece con el sentimiento de quien se siente amado. Nuestro gozo viene desde adentro de nosotros. Quizás estamos rodeados de situaciones difíciles, incomprensibles, inverosímiles y hasta nefastas. Aun así nada puede tocar nuestras almas si no se lo permitimos, nada nos puede arrebatar nuestra alegría, nuestra esperanza “porque es Cristo quien vive en mi”. Por eso te digo “regocíjate San Luis Gonzaga”. Nuestro Mesías, nuestro libertador está por llegar… Regocíjate también por la presencia de nuestras devociones, cuyo propósito es acompañarnos en la jornada de fe. Regocíjate por tus grupos, ministerios y actividades que en su labor pretenden dar alabanza a un Dios verdadero y construir a la salvación de sus hijos. Alégrate San Luis por nuestros coros quienes en cada Misa producen alegría, cada servicio social responde a las necesidades de los hijos de Dios. Por cada acto devocional como nuestras procesiones, por cada liturgia dirigida a la vida sacramental como nuestras reconciliaciones parroquiales o diversos actos como la recepción de las cenizas o procesiones… Por todo esto y mucho más regocíjate San Luis y nunca dudes del amor que Dios te tiene… A todos ustedes hermanos, un feliz Domingo de Gaudete, ¡Prepárate que el Señor está por llegar!

The Lord's Peace be with you!

This Third Sunday of Advent is traditionally known as “Gaudete” Sunday, and in it we pause briefly from the penitential nature of the Season, to get a glimpse of the wondrous Joy of the event that is shortly at hand. The prophet Isaiah’s words are the very words the Lord would speak some five hundred years later. In it he mentions being anointed with the spirit of the Lord, and as a result glad tidings are brought to the poor, the brokenhearted are healed, and liberty is proclaimed to the captives and the imprisoned. He also makes use of symbolic language which serves as references to the long awaited Savior. Saint Paul begins our Second Reading requesting that the Thessalonians “rejoice always” and that they accompany it with continuous prayer and thanksgiving. He prays that they be made “perfectly holy”, in preparation for “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” In the Gospel, John the Baptist did not claim to be Elijah or the “Prophet”, but instead identifies himself as “…the voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘make straight the way of the Lord.’” The common theme in this Sunday’s readings is that of the nature of the One that is to come, and how best to prepare ourselves for His arrival. Our Blessed Mother in her “Magnificat” provides for us the model we are to follow.

¡La Paz del Señor esté con ustedes!

Este tercer domingo de Adviento es conocido tradicionalmente como domingo "Gaudete", y en ella pausamos brevemente del carácter penitencial de la temporada para obtener una visión del maravilloso evento que está por suceder. Las palabras del profeta Isaías son las palabras que el Señor hablaría unos quinientos años más tarde. En él menciona ser ungido con el espíritu del Señor, el cual trae como resultado buenas noticias a los pobres, sanación a los quebrantados de corazón y la libertad proclamada a los cautivos y a los encarcelados. También hace uso de lenguaje simbólico la cual hace referencia al tan largo esperado Salvador. San Pablo comienza nuestra segunda lectura solicitando a los Tesalonicenses que "regocijen siempre", y que acompañen ese regocijo con acciones de gracias y oración continua. Él ora que ellos sean hechos "perfectamente Santos," en preparación para "la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo." En el Evangelio, Juan el Bautista no pretende ser Elías o el "Profeta", pero en cambio se identifica como "...la voz del que clama en el desierto, 'enderezad el camino del Señor.'" El tema común en las lecturas de este domingo es el de la naturaleza del que está por venir, y la mejor manera de prepararnos para su llegada. Nuestra Santísima Madre en su "Magnificat" nos ofrece el modelo a seguir.

We have them in English and in Spanish and we ask that you take one or the other but not both. We have a limited number available and we want to make sure every parish family receives the parish calendar. They are available at the doors of the vestibule.

Year End Giving to Charity Throughout the year, we all try to be as generous as possible to help the parish pay its bills and minister to others in need in the name of Christ. We know that the parish uses our gifts as frugally as possible to proclaim the Gospel, teach the Faith, impart the grace of the sacraments, care for the hungry and needy, counsel those who are hurting as well as couples and families and many other things. The parish must pay its workers, its utilities and insurance, diocesan bills, pay down its debt and save as much as possible for ministry. Before the year ends, we ask you to look at how much you have given and consider if you want to make an additional gift to Saint Aloysius Parish or one of our ministries.

La Caridad al Fin del Año A través del año, tratamos de ser tan generosos como sea posible para ayudar a la parroquia a pagar sus deudas y ministrar a otros en necesidad en nombre de Cristo. Sabemos que la parroquia utiliza nuestros dones tan frugalmente como sea posible para proclamar el

Evangelio, a enseñar la fe, impartir la gracia de los sacramentos, cuidado para los hambrientos y necesitados, aconsejar a quienes están sufriendo así como las parejas y familias y muchas otras cosas.
