Overview This document provides a concise overview of Cisco TelePresence® solutions, and guidance about licensing and ordering. The Cisco® TelePresence solutions are available for two-party, point-to-point video communication, as well as for multi-party video communication or video conferencing. Figure 1 provides a high-level overview of the Cisco TelePresence solution to help you select the right products to order.

Figure 1. Cisco TelePresence Solution Overview

Consider the following criteria to select the right products:

1. For two-party HD video communication order HD video endpoints and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) Version 9.1 or later

2. For multi-party video conferencing order Cisco TelePresence Server and Cisco TelePresence Conductor

3. For conference scheduling and management order Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS)

4. To interwork with Microsoft Lync/OCS and H323 endpoints order Video Communication Server (VCS)

5. For VPN-less video communication and business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) communication order VCS-E

Ordering Tool Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) should be used to configure and order the Cisco TelePresence solutions. CCW provides one integrated commerce experience. The workspace allows Cisco partners to quote, configure, and order Cisco products, software, and related services—all from one platform. Visit www.cisco.com/go/ccw. Start configuring an order in CCW by clicking Configuration link in the Create sub-section of Quick Start section. Figure 2 shows the home screen of CCW ordering tool.

Figure 2. Figure 2. Order Using Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW)

We recommend that users complete and verify the order configuration before placing an order. Complete and valid order configurations provide the link to start the ordering process.

After adding the main product to the configuration, the CCW ordering tool guides users to select the options, such as software, power cable, and advanced feature options. CCW also provides options to buy services and software subscriptions as shown in Figure 3.

Endpoint Licensing In addition to ordering the hardware unit itself, Cisco TelePresence endpoints are connected to a call control system in most deployments. Call control licenses for the endpoints are discussed in the “Call Control” section further in this document. Most personal and multipurpose endpoints also have the following optional add-on licenses available:

Ɣ Premium resolution—Support for resolutions beyond 720p30, such as 720p60 and 1080p30

Ɣ Multisite capability—Ability to bridge up to four calls in conference; embedded in the endpoint and does not require buying additional video conference infrastructure

Ɣ Dual display—Video output port, such as HDMI, to add additional display screen

Note: These licenses are in addition to the device support licenses on each infrastructure component.

Ordering Information Part numbers are to be entered in the CCW ordering tool described in the “Ordering Tool” section. Tables 2 through 8 provide part numbers of TelePresence endpoints, and also list the part numbers for licenses to enable advanced features and any other option with an additional price.

This section describes licensing requirements for TelePresence endpoints, and provides ordering guidance using the CCW ordering tool. TelePresence endpoints connecting to Cisco UCM must be licensed through Cisco User Connect Licensing (UCL) or Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL).

Cisco UCM Licensing for TelePresence Endpoints A Cisco UCM license provides the right to use certain features and certain types of devices, including:

Ɣ Features such as number of devices per user, video, Cisco WebEx®, etc.

Ɣ Type of device, such as Cisco Unified IP Phones 9900 Series or TelePresene SX Series endpoints

Refer to an overview of Cisco Unified Communications 9.0 Licensing.

TelePresense Personal Experience (EX Series) endpoints require any of the following four levels of Unified Communications licenses:

Ɣ Enhanced UCL

Ɣ Enhanced Plus UCL

Ɣ UWL Standard

Ɣ UWL Professional

TelePresence multi-purpose and Immersive Experience endpoints require a Cisco TelePresence Room License under the UCL licensing model.

For further details, refer to the Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing ordering guide.

Video Conferencing Infrastructure (Conductor and TelePresence Server) Call control provided by Cisco UCM facilitates only calls between two TelePresence endpoints. To establish a video conference among multiple TelePresence endpoints, a conference bridge is required. Cisco TelePresence Server functions as the video conference bridge.

Cisco TelePresence Conductor manages the TelePresence Server and provides flexibility, scale, and ease of management.

Telepresense Server Licensing TelePresense Server is licensed by the number of screens. Each screen license enables one 1080p participant to connect with up to 720p15 content sharing.

For example, two TelePresence Server screen licenses can support a conference of the following combination of endpoints:

Ɣ Two 1080p30 resolution endpoints

Ɣ Four 720p30 resolution endpoints

Ɣ Eight 480p30 resolution endpoints

Ɣ Sixteen 360p30 resolution endpoints

There are variations in the supported number of parties in a conference based on presentation content resolution, audio type, and different types of endpoints. For details, refer to the TelePresence Server data sheet.

Ordering Information Step 1. Select a hardware platform that the TelePresence Server will run on. Options are:

Ɣ Cisco UCS® server with a 10-core virtual machine (maximum of six screen licenses in release 3.1)

Ɣ Cisco TelePresence Server 7010 (maximum of 12 screen licenses)

Ɣ Cisco TelePresence Server on Multiparty Media 310 appliance (maximum of five screen licenses)

Ɣ Cisco TelePresence Server on Multiparty Media 320 appliance (maximum of 10 screen licenses)

Ɣ Cisco TelePresence Server MSE 8710 (maximum of 12 screen licenses)

Step 2. Configure the appropriate number of screen licenses.

Use part numbers such as LIC-TPSRV-1SL, L-VTS-1SL, etc. depending on the hardware platform. These will be configurable options after the top-level part is entered into CCW in step 1.

Step 3. Configure power cords and any other options required. Other options include interoperability with third-party multiscreen systems.

Table 13 provides part numbers of various models of TelePresence Servers. The table also lists the part numbers for screen licenses, and any other option with an additional price.

Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) comes in two modes:

Ɣ VCS-Control helps enable interworking of Cisco TelePresence endpoints with standards-compliant H.323 and third-party SIP endpoints as well as Microsoft Lync/OCS

Ɣ VCS-Expressway (along with a VCS-Control) can enable businesses to establish VPN-less video communication with business partners and customers

Figure 4. Deployment of VCS-Control and VCS-Expressway

VCS-C and VCS-E Licensing To understand VCS licensing, one needs to know what traversal and non-traversal video calls are. Figure 5 provides and illustration of both.

Page 14: Telepresence Ordering Guide

Figure 5. Traversal and Non-Traversal Video Calls

In a traversal video call, media flows through VCS:

Ɣ A maximum of 100 traversal calls can be supported on a single VCS

Ɣ Maximum traversal calls licenses are included in VCS-Control

Ɣ A license for traversal calls must be purchased with a base model of VCS-Expressway

In a non-traversal call, media does not flow through VCS:

Ɣ A maximum of 500 non-traversal calls can be supported on single VCS

Ɣ Licenses for non-traversal calls must be purchased for both VCS-Control and VCS-Expressway

Ordering Information Step 1. Select the hardware platform—virtual or appliance for VCS-C and VCS-E.

Step 2. Configure the needed number of traversal and non-traversal licenses.

Step 3. Configure other options (for example, FindMe, dual network interface cards [NICs], etc.) and power cords if it’s an appliance.

Part numbers to be entered in the CCW ordering tool are described in the Ordering Tool section of this document. Start with the top-level part number, which is the Cisco VCS product, either appliance or virtualized application. Then add licenses as per the requirements.

Table 17 provides part numbers and prices for Cisco TelePresence VCS and licenses.
