Entry rules: European Athletics regulations 103

• Athletes to be entered by European Athletics Member Federations

• Only athletes born in 2000 or before may participate in the European Athletics Championships.

• Only athletes born in 1998 or before may participate in the Shot Put (men) and Hammer Throw (men).

• Only athletes born in 1996 or before may participate in the Half Marathon

• Competitors must be able to present, if requested to do so by the Technical Delegates, an official document stating their birth date.

Entry standards and Qualification Procedures

• Individual Entries

– Up to 5 athletes in each individual event of whom up to 3 (qualifying standard)

– Alternatively 1 athlete in each individual event if such athlete has not achieved the qualifying standard (discretion of the Technical Delegates)

– The Host Country will be allowed to enter at least 1 athlete in any event

• Relay teams

– Only 16 national teams will be qualified (host country)

– Up to 6 athletes may be entered

– The 4 athletes to participate must be nominated at Final Declaration

• European Half Marathon Cups

– Each Team participating shall enter no fewer than 3 and not more than 6 runners

Entry Rules

Individual Entries (103.6)

Each European Athletics Member Federation may enter up to 5 (five) athletes in each individual

event of whom up to 3 (three) may participate provided all of them shall have achieved the

qualifying standard for that event.

Member Federations who have no male and/or no female qualified athletes at an event may enter

one unqualified male athlete and/ or one unqualified female athlete in each individual event. The

acceptance of these unqualified entries is at the discretion of the Technical Delegates, considering

the number of entered athletes but always ensuring the quality of the event. The next ranked

performances to the set entry standards shall be considered if complying with 103.6.

Track events up to 400m:

For 100m, 200m, 400m, 100/110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles (Men and Women) the qualification system will be as follows:

•There will be 3 rounds: Pre-qualification round, semi-final and final;

•In the Pre-qualification round compete all athletes entered by the Member Federation and eligible to compete in the championships, except the 12 top athletes (12 best ranked athletes according to the 2016 Season List entered by their Member Federation and to a maximum of 3 per country) directly qualified to the Semi-finals;

•There will be 3 Semi-Finals where the 12 top athletes of the 2016 Season List and the 12 best athletes from the Pre-Qualification round will compete;

•The 2 first athletes in each Semi-Final plus the 2 athletes will the best performance in the Semi-finals will be qualified for the final.

– Vaulting Poles handed over at Schiphol

– On competition days the poles will be transported from the Training Venue to the Olympic Stadium

– After the competition the poles will be transported back to the Training Venue (so they are available for training betweenqualification & final)

– On departure days: the poles will be transported directly from the competition venue to the airport

• Markers

– Only markers provided by the LOC are permitted

– LOC officials will provide tape for the relay runners

Equipment & Implements: Official implemens

• Current IAAF approved implements list

• List for ECH to be provided by LOC by January 1

• Additional implements may be added to the approved

list, if requested by Member Federations or

manufacturers to the European Athletics, by April 1, and

if supplied to the LOC free of charge.

• Four samples of each implement (6 for shots) must be

supplied by the Member Federation or manufacturer

concerned and sent to the LOC by June 1 at the latest.

Equipment & Implements: Personal implemens

• To be submitted the day before qualification (18:30) at

the TIC (Olympic Stadium)

• Allowed provided:

– They are readily identifiable and are IAAF certified

– They are not already on the official list

– They have been checked for compliance with IAAF

– They are made available to all the other competitors

until the end of the Final

• If not accepted, the team will be notified via TIC

asked to complete the following formalities before he can

collect the accreditation for the whole team:
