As part of this program, one of our senior student, Sohini Chakrabarti (Class XII) participated in tGELF’s Youth Leader Competition. They have to choose a social issue close to their hearts and make a positive change in this area.

In the year 2013, a pioneering effort had been made to break social barriers, the students decided to start a Delhi-wide LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and

Flawless Flaws

Our school Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar has a tradition of adopting social

issues and make a difference in society through them. Last year we launched a campaign

called 'Flawless Flaws' in support of acid attack survivors. Through our campaign we

envision to make school students sensitive and empathetic towards acid attack survivors.

We want to act as a bridge between survivors and the society as most of the victims of this

brutal crime, which is much graver in its impact than a rape, have isolated themselves after

losing parts of their body which are irreplaceable. We don’t want them to be discriminated

against, at least at school level and want everyone starting from school children to stand

up against such crimes. The students of class IX-XI have been working on this project and

have been guided by Acid Attack Survivors Foundation India.

Fourteen students accompanied by Ms. Uma Chopra got an opportunity

through ASFI to visit Kolkata from 25 March 2016 to 30 March 2016. The

purpose of the trip was to create awareness about the campaign and plight

of the acid attack victims.

. Sandeed Farooq of class X C and Sakshi Agarwal of class XII B were selected

for the Ashoka Youth Venture program after an extensive online selection procedure, in which innovators between the age group of 12 to 20 from all over India were invited to present their ideas relating to social change, to an

D.A.R.E to Rise campaign

Drug Awareness and Rehabilitation Enterprise Campaign

Our school, Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar initiated the “DARE TO RISE” campaign, for creating and spreading awareness about the harmful nature and long-term effects of dependence on drugs. We envision to make school students sensitive towards the issue of drugs and empathize with drug dependent users; to realize that drug dependence is a disease, and the people affected by it need to be treated with the same standard of care as patients suffering from any other disease. The students of classes IX-XI have been working on this project under the able guidance of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The campaign has been headed by Devarshi Paul of XI-A and Sanjeet Aggarwal of IX-C, as presidents of this campaign. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has been instrumental, conducting a first of its kind survey on the current situation of drug dependence and counselling in schools, and also providing access to many reports to aid in one of our key objectives of the year. We also have a Signature Campaign, which we set up at every PTM, through which we spread awareness amongst the parents of the students. We have also set up a board in our school to spread awareness about drug dependency and also keep the students updated on the campaigns’ work. In addition to that, we have created a facebook page, where we regularly post articles alongside giving updates about our campaign.
