M.P. Tree Plantation Drive Aloysians participated enthusiastically, in large numbers in the statewide Plantation Drive initiated by the Government of Madhya Pradesh with an aim to set a world record of planting 6cr saplings in the Guinness Book of world records. The title of the record was “Most trees planted in 12 hours at multiple locations.” The massive drive took place on 2nd July, 2017. More than 1500 saplings of different varieties were planted. The plantation took place under the flagship of the Forest Department, Government of M.P. The Chief Guest was Bishop Gerald Almeida. Principal Rev. Dr. Vazhan Arasu, Vice Principal Fr. Ben Anton Rose and Dr. Kallol Das were also present.

Swachhata Pakhwada The College conducted the Swachhata Pakhwada from 1stto 15th September, 2017, with a spate of activities in accordance to the nationwide Swachhata Abhiyan. A range of events were organized like clean campus, hostel day, awareness drives, essay contest on innovative ways for spreading the message of cleanliness and hygiene were organized. The 15 day pakhwada helped to spread the message of cleanliness and its importance not only among the students but also in the surrounding areas.. The students and staff actively participated and pledged to achieve the objectives of the mission. Student Union Election

The Student Union Elections for the year 2017-18 was held after a gap of 6 years. A large number of students from different streams actively took part to showcase their leadership skills. They contested to be elected as class representatives and office bearers of the Students’ Union. The election procedure and norms were explained to the students at an orientation program on “Student Union Election” organized on 26th October, 2017. The nominations were filled on 23rd October, 2017. The elections were held on 30thOctober, 2017. All the 4 posts i.e. President, Vice-president, Secretary and Joint-secretary were won by ABVP. The wining candidates were: Ms. Radhika Khatri, Mr. Amarnath Mishra, Mr. Amitoj Mokha and Ms. Shubhi Agrawal respectively. The day successfully ended with the Oath taking Ceremony by the winning candidates.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell

Guest Lecture The Department of Economics organized a Special lecture on 20th November, 2017 on the topic “Samaj Vigyan mei Bhartiyata”. Prof. Kuldeep Chandra Agnihotri, Hon’ Vice-Chancellor Central University, Shimla and Prof. A.D.N. Bajpai, Former Vice-Chancellor, Awadesh Pratap University, Rewa, Gramodya University, Chitrakoot and Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla were the speakers at the function.

Annual Social Gathering The Annual Social Gathering, one of the year’s most highly anticipated events, was held on23rd December, 2017. It provides a platform to showcase the student’s talents in music and dance. The performances of the students were full of enthusiasm. The audience comprising of more than 1000 students were enthralled with a fusion of folk and contemporary music and dance performances. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. V. D. Sharma. Bishop Gerald Almeida presided over the function. Prof. Kapil Deo Mishra, Mr. Vijay Atwal and Mr. Kamlesh Agrawal were the Special Guests. Scholarship was distributed to meritorious students.

National Seminar The Two Days’ National Workshop on, “Collaborative Teaching Strategies for Knowledge Building and Collective Wisdom in Higher Education” was organized on 27th and 28th October, 2017 to enhance teaching effectiveness of teachers from across disciplines and to make them aware of collaborative teaching strategies. Throughout the workshop, participants worked on individual and group activities and participated in peer-reviews. The exclusive workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to network, share experiences with professionals and explore new solutions with the means to improve theoretical and practical understanding of pedagogical principles. The workshop was sponsored by United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, Hong Kong.

Workshop on GST Workshop on “GST in India: A Step Ahead in Indirect Tax” was organized by the Department of Tax Procedure and Practice on 15th September, 2017. The Chief Guest was Dr. S.K. Pahwa, Principal, G.S. College of Commerce and Economics , Jabalpur and the Keynote Speaker was Mr. Narayan Mishra, Joint Commissioner, Commercial Tax Jabalpur Division and Mrs. Abha Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Tax Jabalpur Circle.

Training Program A Training Program on Apiculture-“Entrepreneurship in Bee Keeping” was organized on 16th September, 2017 to promote the scientific knowledge, professional skill, entrepreneurship and marketing skills in Apiculture. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr. A. K. Bhowmick, Professor, Department of Entomology, JNKVV, Jabalpur who provided hands on training and detailed technical knowledge of apiculture to the teachers and students. .

National Cadet Corps (NCC) Three students represented the country for the Youth Exchange Program in 2017, CC Rishab Sharma (Kazakastan), SUO Ayushi Singh (Sri Lanka), CC Ritu Shekhar (Bangladesh). Republic Day Camp 2017 attended by ten students CC Dean Tully, CC Rishabh Sharma, CC Arshee Naz, UO Sushma Bhaswar, SUO Ayushi Singh, CC Ritu Shekhar, Cdt. Amreesh Singh, Cdt. Vishal Pandey, Cdt. L. Vaishnavi, UO Alok Choubey (Silver Medal Horse Riding). Thal Sainik Camp 2017 UO Sonali Bathav. Nau Sainik Camp 2017 eight Naval Wing cadets were selected from MP & CG, tested for various events like Swimming, Health & Hygiene, Firing, Tent Pitching/ Sail Rigging, Boat Pulling Semaphore, Service Subject and Cultural. The students who excelled are: Cadet N. Pooja Sharavan (Ship Modeler), Cadet Pranjali Tiwari (Best Cadet, State level Competition), Cadet Manish Singh (Best Cadet, State level Competition), Cadet Deepali Singh (Nominated for Rifle Shooting at National Level).

NSS NSS Units of St. Aloysius College organized an awareness program on Swachata through Skits, Road Show and Rally. The students raised awareness in the society against the use of polythene through Skit and Road show and also distributed paper bags to various shop keepers and requested them not to use polythene. N.S.S. students also took career guidance classes in Khalsa School, Sadar. They also made a short movie on Traffic Rules.

Extension Activities The Department of Applied Economics & Honors to fulfill its duty towards society and inculcate values of sharing and caring amongst the students, conducted an extension actively on 20th December, 2017. The students raised funds and bought blankets & distributed to some of the non-teaching staff of the college.This helped to strengthen the bond between the students and non-teaching staff who work very hard to keep the classrooms and campus clean.
