Q: Jesus tells his friends that whenever they extend kindness or wel-come someone, they are welcoming Jesus, too. How do you prepare to welcome others to your home? Do you like to have people visit you?

1. Let's talk: ♦ Do I receive visitors gladly, as if I received Jesus himself? 2. Read together the story on the children's page and the Bible readings for today. 3. Message for our family this week:

♦ God rewards the family who had extended hospitality to Elijah, the prophet sent by God.

♦ With his death, Christ gained a new life for us. All of us, the bap-tized, lived a new life in God.

♦ God is pleased by the hospitality we extend to all God’s children, particularly the most vulnerable, smallest and poorest.

4. What is going on in our lives? ♦ Does the family keep the beautiful Hispanic virtue of hospitality as a

value? ♦ Is the family accustomed to include and share with those who are

newcomers from other countries, cities, or neighborhoods? ♦ What is the experience of “our welcome in our family” in this country

or parish community? 5. What our faith teaches us:

Hospitality is a very characteristic Mediterranean virtue. In our Hispanic culture we have inherited a lot of that tradition and value. We say such things as “My house is your home,’ or “there is always room for one more at the table.’

Opening our doors to others is a very Christian virtue that Jesus taught insistently, as he went about eating with his friends and inviting sick people and sinners to his table. It is in the sharing of our meals and our lives that we begin to understand the meaning of the Eucharist

bienvenida en este país o comunidad parroquial? 5. Lo que nos enseña nuestra fe: La hospitalidad es una virtud mediterránea por excelencia de la que hemos recibido mucho en la cultura hispana. Siempre decimos cosas como “mi casa es su casa” o “donde comen tres come cuatro”. El abrir las puertas a otro es también una virtud muy cristia-na que el propio Jesús enseño ampliamente al comer con sus amigos e invitar a pecadores y enfermos a sentarse con el a la mesa. Ahí en el compartimiento de nuestras comidas y nuestras vidas empezamos a entender el significativo de la Eucaristía.

Jesus Teaches Us To Be Hospitable ♦ Jesús Lo Enseña: Mi Casa Es Su Casa

HOSPITALIDAD CRISTIANA En todo momento se requiere de nosotros que hagamos deci-siones para la acción, informadas por el amor cristiano que es difícil, duradero y útil. Hacemos lo que podemos, y Dios presta atención. Dios se encarga de las recompensas, y un vaso de agua es suficiente cuando es lo que podemos proporcionar con corazón abierto y alegre. Pablo nos da una teología clara para el trabajo misionero que hacemos cuando alguien está cerca. Nos recuerda que nuestro trabajo, nuestro ministerio, se cumple en coordinación con Cristo. Hemos sido bautizados en su muerte y en su vida. A cada momento, tanto la vida como la muerte están presentes, un juego de intercambio entre sombra y luz. A veces, es difícil diferenciar el margen entre la luz y la sombra. Pero, Dios se encargará de esto, también.

CHRISTIAN HOSPITALITY Day in and day out, we are re-quired to make judgment calls in-formed by tough, durable, serviceable Christian love. We do what we can do, and God takes notice. God is in charge of rewards, and a glass of water will do when that is what we have to offer with a glad and open heart. Paul gives us a clear theology for the missionary work we do whenever anybody is close at hand. He reminds us that our work, our min-istry, is carried on in concert with Christ. We have been baptized into his death and life. In any given moment both life and death are there, a kind of play of shadow and light. Sometimes it’s difficult to tell where shadow leaves off and light begins. God will take care of that, too.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reports that nearly 5,000 children under the age of 21 die from alcohol-related incidents every year. Studies show that children as young as 12 may be exposed to alcohol and drugs, and nearly 75% of high school seniors have tried alcohol at least once. Talk to your children about alcohol and the risks of underage drinking. Partner with other parents who see your children reg-ularly, and make sure you are all on the same page about keeping children from drinking. Parents should also serve as positive role models for safe drinking behaviors.

Confirmation and First Holy Communion

Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, confirmations are to con-ferred in small numbers. Fr. Gilbert and other priest have been give the faculties to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation. In the next couple of week, Confirmation during some of our Mass-es. Some young adults and adults have already receive the Sacrament of Confirmation We will also be celebrating First Communion during some of our Sunday Masses as we have done before.
