St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement
St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic community
dedicated to celebrating the life and word of Jesus Christ.
All are welcome to deepen their spiritual and personal lives
through active participation in weekly Liturgy, the
celebration of the Sacraments, Parish ministries and
community activities. Acknowledging our incompleteness
and our need for God’s grace, we commit ourselves,
through Baptism, to responding to God’s call to become
and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in our time. Jesus
Christ is at the center of all of our lives.

Dear Parishioners,
There are so many powerful sentences spoken
by Jesus in today’s Gospel. The one that struck me is
the following: “Our friend, Lazarus, is asleep. But I
am going to awaken him”, said Jesus. On Ash
Wednesday we were in some sort of sleep. Now
hopefully, as we begin the fifth week of Lent, we are a
little more awake. If we are not awake; it is never too
late to start. By being asleep I mean not being aware
of God’s never-ending love for us. Perhaps through
our Lenten practice of penance, prayer and almsgiving
we are more awake, more aware of God’s presence
within ourselves, others and in all creation.
When I visit our parishioners who are
homebound and/or sick, I see people who are awake!
In spite of physical diminishment, these folks live in
God’s presence. They are grateful for what has been,
appreciate what they presently have, and are resigned
to God’s future plans for them!
They fast from worries and feast on peace.
They fast from problems that overwhelm them and
feast on prayer that will sustain them.
They fast from grudges and feast on forgiveness.
Today may we, as our special parishioners do,
respond faithfully to Jesus awakening call.

April is Autism Awareness
Month. Please pray for
the families who live with
the challenges of autism,
from the early stages of
dealing with a child's new
diagnosis to the struggles
of finding and keeping
services for adults. Prayer
and community support
(acceptance, advocacy, action) are needed for an ever-
growing number of people who have this life-long
disability. Our son Danny will be 31 on April 30th, so
although we are celebrating and grateful for his suc-
cesses, we are uncertain about the future. Help us and
other advocates to be the voice for those who cannot
speak for themselves. Loretta and Alex Bornat.

We are once again preparing the annual tradition of honoring those couples in our Archdiocese who will be celebrating five, twenty-five and fifty years of Christian marriage in the year 2017. These anniversary liturgies will be celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Tobin in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark as follows:
April 30, 2017 3:00 PM 5th & 25th Anniversary years
May 7, 2017, 3:00 PM 50th Anniversary (All counties)
It is our desire that every couple in the Archdio-cese deserving of such recognition be present at the appropriate liturgy. The presence of a large number of couples will give favorable witness to the strength and stability of Christian marriage in today's society. Please register in person at the
rectory or by calling 973-226-0221.
