SWARTHMORE-RUTLEDGE SCHOOLHOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
2012-2013
WHO WE ARE:
We are YOU! All parents, faculty, and administrators are members of the SRS Home and SchoolAssociation – a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing and enriching the educationof students who attend Swarthmore-Rutledge School.
WHAT WE DO:
The Home and School Association supports school programs by raising funds and providingvolunteers for a variety of activities.
WHY THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT:
PUBLIC SCHOOLS NEED TO FUNDRAISE TOO! Many of the programs that make our school abeacon of academic and creative excellence depend upon private fundraising and are NOT supportedwith government funds. Home and School is integral to raising the funds that are necessary to run avariety of the enrichment programs for SRS students. And with the recent cuts in funds to publiceducation, those fundraising efforts are more critical than ever.
WE NEED YOU!
In order for any fundraising efforts to be successful we must first have a robust and effective Homeand School run by enthusiastic and involved parents.
Parent involvement is an important part of a positive school experience for children, and all parentsare encouraged to become involved with the Home and School Association. There are manyopportunities for parent involvement, from one-day events to more long-term volunteercommitments. The following pages provide an overview of each Home & School Representativeposition. For more information on all volunteer possibilities call your grade representative, contactour volunteer coordinator or leave your name in the office.
CHECK US OUT:
Attendance at Home and School Association meetings promotes a better understanding amongparents, teachers, and administrators by providing a forum for discussion and gives parents a windowinto how your child’s school is run. Keep up with communications about special events by readingthe Principal’s weekly E-blast and looking at our website, www.srskids.org.
