He has represented local engineering practices since the 1990s and now runs a mechanical services consultancy to support other practitioners throughout the industry. He also represents AIRAH in the delivery of seminars and training related to mechanical ventilation, fire and smoke control, and maintenance of essential mechanical systems.

This one day course outlines how AS/NZS 1668.1 applies the principles of smoke control in multi-compartment buildings. Why is smoke control required in buildings? What are the hazards generated by smoke and how does smoke move? Plus details on occupant escape.

This course also examines the specification, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire and smoke dampers, and provides the information required to determine the proper parameters for selection, installation, commissioning and essential maintenance of fire dampers and smoke dampers in use in buildings.

Cancellation and refund policyRegistration may be cancelled up to five working days prior to commencement of the course with participants either transferring to another course/event or receiving a refund less a 20% administration fee. No refund will be given where cancellation is 24 hours or less. In all other cases of cancellation the extent of any refund will be at the discretion of AIRAH.

You may substitute another participant at any time prior to the event date should the nominated person be unable to attend. Where a non-member replaces a member the difference between member and non-member rates will be charged. Requests for refund can be made by email to accounts@airah.org.au
