Toralla is a small island located on the South coast of the “Ría de Vigo”, just 400 meters from the Bao beach. It has an urbanized surface of 10´6 hectareas and it is communicated with Vigo Bao beach coast by a public bridge. The island has developed out of control, since it has destroyed their natural and cultural heritage since the sixties. Toralla building is very big. Beneath the buildings lie important Iron Age remains and also evidence of trade of a Roman necropolis.

In this field were found the Roman remains of an ancient Roman Village.

The first remains were found in 1920 by the Mirambel family, who were in charge of the land in for ninety years. There were found coins and pottery. As soon as they dig, they found the remains of an old building.

This Roman Village dates from the 300 till the 450, at the end of the Roman empire. It has some buildings related to the agriculture, the sea or the home.

It we compare it to other villages, it is not very luxiorous, but cosy. They has three beths and a heater to heat water and an oven as well.

This chapel is dedicated to the Virgen of Carmen, whose image crowns the tower at the top of the church. It arose in 1952, as a maritime chapel. On July 16 hundreds of sailors carry their boats on a decorated procession on the Ría, beginning at the Canido´s port. They are led by a boat that carries the figure of the Virgin of Carmen, which is also taken from the chapel.
