    Thank you Feed the Children!

    The San Diego Armed Services YMCA welcomed Feedthe Children at the September Neighborhood Exchangeand was honored to receive a donation of $45,000 fromthe organization to support local military families. Thankyou Feed the Children for this most generous support!!

    The San DiegoASYMCA wouldalso like to thankGrappling X fortheir donation ofdiapers, formula,baby items, as wellas cereal, and ce-

    real bars. Thismonths Neighbor-hood Exchangewas another largeevent, as weserved 172 house-holds and 830individuals, withthe help of 39 vol-unteers.

    Bike Giveaway

    Many thanks to Bob Bone, Scott Guenther, and many others whomade Del Mar's Military Appreciation Day a huge success. With theirhard work, the ill and injured service members of Naval Medical Cen-

    ter were invited to a first-class day in a clubhouse overlooking the racetrack. They received a VIP tour of the Win-ner's Circle, were announced on the track, and were allowed to stand on the inside of the track at the start of therace. We can't thank you enough for showing us such a wonderful time.

    September events alsoincluded: deep sea fishing, the Coronado

    Speed Festival, a PatrioDay BBQ in honor of9/11, and Sailfesthosted by the San DiegYacht Club where mili-tary families with sub-specialty children wereable to enjoy a day onthe water.

    ASYMCA Active Duty Programs annual military appreciationnight, OPERATION LIBERTY CALL, kicked off Fleet Week

    2010 on Friday, September 17th at Dicks Last Resort inSan Diegos historic Gaslamp Quarter. Over 450 active duty military, dependentsretired military, and civilians supported the event! All persons with a valid militaryID received a free coupon book offering special discounts to military members antheir families at businesses throughout San Diego, a free Operation Liberty Call/Fleet Week 2010 t-shirt, as well as a chance to win several great raffle prizes in-cluding concert tickets, San Diego Chargers tickets, Padres tickets, free hotelstays, and gift cards to local San Diego restaurants.

    Thank you Ultratones and TheBelly Up for a great Dance Partyfor the Troops event last month!

    3,000th Operation Kid Comfort Quilt!

    There was never a slow moment at the Belly Up on Sat-urday, September 11th, at the Dance Party to Supportthe Troops. The Fabulous Ultratones kept everyonesinging and dancing to tunes from the 70s, 80s, 90s,and hits from today; the Gypsyettes performed and gavebelly dancing lessons; and the Elite British DJ kept eve-

    ryone energized throughout the afternoon. All proceedsfrom the event were donated to the San Diego ASYMCA.

    In 4 years of partnership with the American Sewing Guild,the ASYMCA has distributed many quilts to children with aparent deployed or deploying.... 3,000 in fact! The 60 vol-unteers with the American Sewing Guild are the true heartand soul of the program they have donated over 30,000

    hours of service crafting these beautiful quilts. If you placedall completed quilts side by side, it would spread across 75football fields! Thank YOU American Sewing Guild!

    At the recent Board of Management Meeting,Lyndsay Calhoun, Youth and Community Out-reach Director, announces the accomplish-ments of the extraordinary American SewingGuild Volunteers who crafted their 3,000th quiltin September.

    I would like to say thankyou...I pointed to my hus-bands picture on the quiltand our young son imme-

    diately leaned over togive daddy a kiss.
