vii) The Tenderer shall allow opposite each of theclauses whatever tariffs, costs and charges he mayconsider necessary for the carrying out, c o m p l y i n gwith and due observance of the provisions, conditionsand requirements set out herein

Only priced items will be considered in respect of anyadjustment of this section

Any items left unpriced will be understood to beprovided for elsewhere and no claim for any extrasarising out of the tenderer's omission to price any itemwill be entertained

Preambles for Trades

The Model Preambles for Trades (2008 edition) as publishedby the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors shall bedeemed to be incorporated in these Bills of Quantities and noclaims arising from brevity of description of items fullydescribed in the said Model Preambles will be entertained

Supplementary preambles are incorporated in these Bills ofQuantities to satisfy the requirements of this project. Suchsupplementary preambles shall take precedence over theprovision of the said Model Preambles

The Contractor's prices for all items throughout these Bills ofQuantities must take account of and include for all of theobligations, requirements and specifications given in the saidModel Preambles and in any supplementary preambles

Pricing of Preliminaries

Should the Contractor select Option A in terms of sub clause3.2.1 in the Contract Data - Contractor to Employer (CE) for thepurpose of adjustment of these Preliminaries, the amountentered into the amount column in these Preliminaries is to bedivided into one or more of the three categories providednamely Fixed (F), Value Related (V) and Time Related (T)

7 Compliance with Laws and Regulations (clause 7)

Without limiting the generality of the provisions of clause 7.0 ofthe agreement , the Contractor's attention is drawn to theprovisions of the Construction Regulations, 2003 issued interms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2014 in whichit is specifically stated that the Employer shall prepare adocumented Health and Safety specification for the works a n dthat the Employer shall ensure that the Contractor has madeprovision for the cost of Health and Safety measures during theexecution of the works

The Principal Agent shall, on behalf of the Employer , issuesuch Health and Safety specification and the Contractor s h a l lprice opposite this item for compliance with the act and theregulations and the provisions of the aforementioned Healthand Safety specification, provided such provisions arereasonable in terms of the act and the regulations

Additional Preliminary Items:

The Contractor must supply the owner with a complete andcomprehensive Health and Safety plan in terms of the saidlatest acts of parliament and all relevant regulations and isresponsible for all Health and Safety issues, procedures,processes, measures and responsibilities. In this regard thefollowing must strictly be addressed but the onus andresponsibility is not limited to this list:

1. Safety of all machinery2. Hard hats by all people on site3. Dust and fume masks4. Safety belts and lines5. Safety of scaffolding, hoarding, screens,

fences, etc.6. Safety of gangways, planks, etc.7. Warning signs and safety barriers8. Safety reports to the principal agent and the

client9. Traffic safety on site and to and from the site10. Complete Health and Safety of the public 11. Ear plugs and sound protection12. The Contractor must adhere to and manage

all aspects specifically shown on the partiesHealth and Safety assessment and the general and specific Health and Safety specification. Should the specification bemore than what is required by regulation afair price for this extra work basedon the contract terms shall be agreed upon

66 Warranties for material and workmanship (clause C2)

Where warranties for materials and/or workmanship are calledfor, the Contractor shall obtain a written warranty, addressed tothe Employer, from the firm supplying the materials and/ordoing the work and shall deliver same to the Principal Agent onthe certified completion of the contract. Cost of tests

The costs of making, storing and testing of concrete testcubes as required shall include the cost of providing cubemoulds necessary for the purpose, for testing costs and forsubmitting reports on the tests to the engineer. The testingshall be undertaken by an independent firm or institutionnominated by the contractor to the approval of the engineer.(Test cubes are measured separately)

Formwork

Description of formwork shall be deemed to include use andwaste only (except where described as "left in" or"permanent"), for fitting together in the required forms,wedging, leveling and fixing to true angles and surfaces asnecessary to ensure easy release during stripping and forreconditioning as necessary before re-use

The vertical strutting shall be carried down to suchconstruction as is sufficiently strong to afford the requiredsupport without damage and shall remain in position untilthe newly constructed work is able to support itself.

Hardware:

All door applied hardware items shall be made fromgalvanized steel and hinges shall be of 1,8mm steelstampings. Roller carrying end hinges shall be of aminimum thickness of 2,24mm and shall havenon-adjustable roller sleeves of progressivelygraduated height to guide descending door tightlyagainst the jambs and header in the inclined verticaltracks at a pitch of 6,35mm per section. Hinges shall bepre-formed with stiffening gussets on edges. Rollersshall operate on full floating case hardened steel ballbearings with 10 balls per race. Inner case shall consistof a full-hardened cone. Balls shall not operate directlyon the roller shaft. All fasteners shall be plated.

Counterbalance: Custom computed torsion springs, mounted on acontinuous cross header shaft shall be used for safetyand for accurate counterbalance of the door in theascending as well as the descending motion. NOTE: Copper pipes:

Pipes shall be hard drawn and half-hard pipes of the classstated. Class 0 (thin walled hard drawn) pipes shall not bebent. Class 1 (thin walled half-hard), class 2 (half-hard) andclass 3 (heavy walled half-hard) pipes shall only be bent withbenders with inner and outer formers. Fittings to copperwaste, vent and anti-syphon pipes, capillary solder fittingsand compression fittings shall be "Cobra Watertech" type.Capillary solder fittings shall comply with ISO 2016. Onlycompression fittings shall be used in walls or in ground.

NOTE:Reducing fittings:

Where fittings have reducing ends or branches they aredescribed as "reducing". In the case of pipes with diametersnot exceeding 60mm only the largest end or branch size isgiven. SUPPLEMENTARY PREAMBLES

uPVC pressure pipes and fittings

Pipes for water supply shall be of the class stated.

Pipes of 40mm diameter and smaller shall be plain ended withsolvent welded uPVC loose sockets and fittings.

Pipes of 50mm diameter and greater shall have sockets andspigots with push in type integral rubber ring joints. Bends shallbe uPVC and all other fittings shall be cast iron, all with similarpush-in type joints.

Reducing fittings

Where fittings have reducing ends or branches they aredescribed as "reducing". In the case of pipes with diametersnot exceeding 60mm only the largest end or branch size isgiven. Should the contractor wish to use other fittings andbushes or reducers he may do so on the understanding that noclaim in this regard will be entertained. In the case of pipeswith diameters exceeding 60mm all sizes are given and noclaim for extra bushes, reducers, etc will be entertained.

Excavations

No claim for rock excavation will be entertained unless thecontractor has timeously notified the quantity surveyor thereofprior to backfilling.

"Soft rock" and "hard rock" shall be as defined in "Earthworks"

Laying, backfilling, bedding, etc. of pipes

Pipes shall be laid and bedded and trenches shall be carefullybackfilled in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
