We at the County Library recognize that this is a stressful time for many people, whether you’re adjusting to isolation, homeschooling, or the changes to your routine.

It becomes more important than ever to practice self-care, wash your hands, and make time for things that bring you joy. The Stay Home Challenge is built around these principles to help you navigate the coming weeks. Embark on the challenge solo or with friends. Do one challenge a day, or slowly add a new challenge every day.

You can print the challenge and complete at your own pace. Tune into Facebook on the weekends for the challenge of the week. Enjoy!

Challenge 10: Create. This is a moment of history. Chronicle your daily life and experiences in whatever form and whatever length that takes: a journal, blog, film, short story, poem, six-word story, picture, sequence, comic, or photo journal.

Challenge 11: Connect. Ask for help; give help. Whether that means asking for an emotional boost, a word of encouragement, or a financial boost, seek out assistance. And then look at what you can give. Maybe you can’t give financially, but you can give emotionally; maybe you can’t give emotional-ly but you can make a donation. The United Way has set up a COVID-19 relief fund where you can both apply for aid and donate. You can also support small restaurants by ordering takeout, buy gift cards from small businesses, and donate blood (if healthy).

Challenge 12: Learn. Complete the County Library’s digital scavenger hunts.

Challenge 13: Play. Social distancing doesn’t mean staying inside; it means staying 6 feet away from people and to avoid large gatherings. So on a nice day, get outside! Go for a bike ride, garden, take a walk, chalk the driveway, or just sit on the back patio and read a book.

Challenge 14: Read. Read something funny, whether a humorous book, a web comic, or our own Facebook Sunday Punday…we don’t care. Just laugh today.

Challenge 15: Create. Okay, y’all must have boxes of toilet paper rolls at home by now, right? Get creative with a toilet paper roll craft. Seriously, adults, you’re never too old to be silly.
