The West Hatch Scout Group are helping one of their Young Leader's to fundraise for funds towards a once in a lifetime trip to the 24th World Jamboree in North America this year. Please come and support us from 12 noon. Any donations of books, toys, bric a brac, white elephant and jumble are also gratefully received at the village hall from 9:30-11:30. (The next jumble sale in aid of the Village Hall will be held on 4th May.) The HEALTH WALKS FOR MARCH will be on Wed March 6th at 10.30 am from Creech Canal Car park and is up to 1.5 hours in duration, and Wed March 20th at 10.30 from Ruishton Village hall. We are running the popular ‘Potato in a bucket class again, and this year we have a supply of early cropping seed potatoes – or you can grow your own variety. Seed potatoes can be obtained from Lilian or Mike (13 Lawn Meadow) 10p each, this also covers your entry fee. RATS (Ruishton Artists in TexStyles) We are a group of craft enthusiasts who work with fabric and thread. We are now meeting on the 3rd Mon of each month 10.00a.m. - 3.00p.m. in the Village Hall meeting room. RUISHTON AND THORNFALCON PARISH COUNCIL JUNCTION 25 UPGRADE A multi-million pound scheme to upgrade the busy M5 Junction 25 roundabout at Taunton is scheduled to begin next month following the appointment of Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd. Somerset County Council has developed a scheme to increase the capacity of this vital link to improve traffic flow, ease peak hour conges-tion and unlock land for employment to the east of the M25 The Contractors and Somerset County Council are arranging ‘drop in’ events where you can view the plans and representatives of Alun Griffiths and Somerset County Council, will be pre-sent to answer any questions you may have. ‘Drop in’ events for Ruishton Village Hall have been arranged for: Thursday 7th March 2.00pm – 8.30pm and Thursday 14th March 2.00pm – 8.30pm

POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER Sue Mountstevens, Police and Crime Commissioner will be attend-ing the Parish Council’s March meeting to give a presentation and answer any questions from Councillors and the public on policing matters. The presentation will take place on Wednesday 6th March 2019 at 7.00pm in Ruishton Village Hall.

DEFIBRILLATOR The defibrillator training will take place on Saturday 16th March 2019 at 9.30am – 12.30am in Ruishton Village Hall. There are a few places spare so if you are interested in attending the train-ing or you had put your name on the list and you have not been contacted, please contact the Clerk as soon as possible.

SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL Volunteer drivers – Do you know anyone who has a day or more to spare per week to help drive people to vital medical appointments? Mileage expenses will be reimbursed at up to 50p per mile. We need more volunteer drivers across the county to help people get to medical appointments, day care centres, schools, etc. Drivers need to be over 18, have a four-door car, a current driving licence and commit to as little as one hour per week. TAUNTON AREA CYCLING CAMPAIGN Taunton Area Cycling Campaign has launched a campaign to ask Somerset County Council and West Somerset & Taunton Council to prioritise cycling and walking in their next major bid for at least £10m transport funds from the Government. The Steering Group and Project Team have been meeting regularly and have produced a draft Policies chapter for the Neighbourhood Plan, which is being presented to the Parish Council at its meeting on 6th March 2019. We are awaiting the announcement of the decision on the A358 route, expected this Spring, as this is needed to proceed further with the Neighbourhood Plan. If you would like to find out more about your Parish Neighbourhood Plan, please visit the Parish website www.ruishton.org.uk, or attend the Parish Council meeting on 6th March. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— VILLAGE DAY 20th JULY 2019 Nows the time to think about this years Village Day. We are looking for some new ideas for stalls as well as our regulars. Do you know someone who has a hobby with plants, shrubs, pot plants or/and vegetables who seems to always have a surplus, they might like to have a stall. Or perhaps metal craft or pottery. We are open to nay new ideas. Please run them by me as we want to avoid duplication. On a sad note we are sorry to hear of the passing of Jean Bulgin, such a lovely lady, she was a great influence and help in the early years of village day.
