Member Request: I was diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma about 20 years ago. For years, I have been taking multiple medications to treat this condition, but feel that, due to certain factors improving, I may not need them anymore. My doctor is family practice and does not feel comfortable advising me about this. I am facing traveling across Texas to see a specialist.
Specialist Recommendations:
• Suggested, due to low prolactin levels, discontinuing weekly intake of Cabergoline.
• Suggested a follow up MRI to confirm evidence of residual tumor and/or increased prolactin levels.
• If no residual tumor, suggested that member consider discontinuing intake of Thyroxine and Androgel
• Gave local recommendation for endocrinologist in members area.

I used 2nd MD in the fall, when I was concerned about some lab results that didn't make sense to me. The nurse I spoke with put
me in touch with a researcher at the CDC. I believe that doctor may have saved my life! He asked me about other medications I was taking and their doses. When I told him about one of them, he strongly urged me to stop taking it and contact my regular doctor right away. Now that I am taking a different medication for that condition, my lab results are better for the other condition.
