I GAVE BIRTH! Before I welcome you to the 9th issue of our Robo Update, I just wanted to express my excitement about our Division14 Lt. Governor-Elect Erin Dominguez! Isn’t our LTG-Elect so cute? I know she’s going to do such a great job next term and I have full confidence that she will take D14 into brand new h e i g h t s o f g r o w t h a n d development! Make sure you congratulate her with your hugs and love at our upcoming division events and give her all of your support!

Speaking of division events, we have many planned out for the remainder of the 2013-2014 term so make sure you attend ALL of them because there are less than 45 days left before DCON 2014. Less than 45 days to cherish the last moments of this term, less than 45 days before the next wave of leaders take rise, and less than 45 days to leave your legacy. I know especially now that most of you have your elects that you feel like your term is over… but it’s not! There are still many goals to meet, many new ideas and events to take action on, and, most importantly, you need to train your elects because the best legacy you can leave to this division/district is a successor who can do even better. Keep these thoughts in mind as you progress through the next few weeks befo re DCON and “make something out of the moment you’re in right now.”

Yours in service,

Prajwol Devkota D14/39 LTG 2013-2014

Many of us take the little things in life

like clean water for granted. Clean

water is actually a luxury that many

people around the world aren’t able

to enjoy. Can you imagine going days

presents a challenge that can help

YOU provide clean water to those in

need! Go to: uniceftapproject.org on

SHOW OFF

YOUR SPIRIT!

For me, DCON is much more than just a three day

weekend with my fellow Key Clubbers all over CNH. DCON is a

catalysts towards personal evolution. I recall my first DCON in

Santa Clara when I was still a shy sophomore. It is through

experiencing the intense caucus sessions, celebrating our magical

achievements, and reuniting with my Key Club Ohana that triggers

this personal evolution.

division RECAP

Division 14 is hosting our second annual Zumbathon at the First Presbyterian Church in Marysville on 1940 Freeman Street! Get fit for the spring time while helping save lives since all funds raised from the admission of this fun event will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network to help fund hospitals like the UC Davis Children’s Hospital! Make sure you invite friends/family since it’s open to everyone!

Marysville High School hosted the first Division 14/39 Joint Council Meeting of this term along with their Movie-Night Fundraiser for the Eliminate Project! For just a price of $5, members were able to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (which was voted on) and enjoy movie-style popcorn! On top of that, 7/9 clubs were represented at the DCM which is a new record! On top of that, we were able to gain service hours at the DCM as everyone helped make care packages for the homeless in

our community! It was definitely a great way to kick off the year! 09

conclave

RECAP Conclave 2014 - The Service Games was a truly unique event as we were able to elect the Lt. Governor for the 2014-2015 term! Two amazing leaders stood out on stage as they poured their hearts out while giving their speeches. Both candidates, Shagun Bali with her creative rap and Erin Dominguez with her passionate story, gave great speeches and it was a hard choice! In the end, Division/Club Secretary Erin Dominguez was elected by the members as the 2014-2015 Lieutenant Governor-Elect for Division 14! It is with much pride and confidence that I can say that Division 14 is in good hands. With Erin’s tremendous growth, determination, and strong leadership, it is inevitable for Division 14 to reach brand new heights in service, spirit and funds in the upcoming term! Congratulations Erin, we are proud of you and we BEE-lieve in you! 10

YUBA CITY

Kiwanis Crab Feed

By Jose Gonzalez [VP]

Around 10 hard working clubbers volunteered to be

waiters or waitresses at the Kiwanis Crab feed on Sat-

urday. We all prepared salads, soups and plates for

our guests. It was all very pleasing to see that every-

one was enjoying the dinner. After that there was a

raffle we took part in by walking the prizes to the

winners. After the feed was over, the final things were

to simply pick up some chairs and tables. It was a

good way to bond with our Kiwanis and community.

Your club isn’t featured? Make sure to send your visuals and articles to [email protected] by the 15th of each month! The final submission for 2013-2014 term is March 15, 2014!

LIVE OAK

Christmas Caroling

By Prabhjit Kaur [President]

For Christmas caroling Key Clubbers went to

|various places over three days, December 20th, 21st,

and 23rd. All three day members sang multiple carols

such as Rudolph, Santa Claus is coming to Town,

We Wish You A Merry Christmas, and much more.

They also made cards to give at each place that was

caroled at. The first day members went to a few

places and were able to finish the list of places to

carol on the last two days. The volunteers had a lot

of fun being able to sing at all the places. People

were very happy and appreciative of all of us

caroling. This was a very fun event in which

everyone was able to participate.

BEE EFFECTIVE As our Elects begin working with their new boards and teams and as we be-gin entering the final few months before summer/spring break, it’s time for us to really learn how to be effective! Take these tips that were provided by Key Club International to BEE more effective!

1. BEE PROACTIVE

Take responsibility for your life and your actions! Think ahead and

plan, don’t wait until the last minute.

2. BEE-GIN WITH THE END IN MIND

Define your mission and goals in mind. Work to be at a better state

than you were when you started.

3. PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST

Prioritize and do the most important things first. Multi-tasking is

possible, but difficult. Focus on one task at a time!

4. THINK WIN-WIN

Have an everyone can win attitude, be positive! Remember that

kindness is free!

5. SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD

Listen to people sincerely and take what they have to say into

concern when it is from the ones who care. Don’t let negativity bring

you down though.

6. SYNERGIZE

Work together to achieve more! Teamwork builds more leadership

and knowledge upon others.

7. SHARPEN THE SAW

Renew yourself regularly. Don’t over-stress and remember to take

breaks often so that you don’t burn out!
