Roadmap monthly newsletter

Editorial

eptember in many Northern Hemisphere countries

marks the re-launch of the economic activity, after

the silly season typically associated to summer

holidays.

It is therefore common for companies to return to their activities and launch

their projects during this month. Frotcom is no exception.

For instance, our R&D is completely redesigning the method for the

programming and registration of new devices in the Intranet. It is now becoming

a highly automatic process, allowing Frotcom International to cope with the ever

growing number of activations requested by Frotcom Certified Partners and

their clients.

Moreover, deep optimization of Frotcom’s web interface is taking place, with a

special focus on maps. This will result in faster maps manipulation and an overall

more user-friendly and consistent web interface.

In parallel, other activities are also being developed, such as the launch of a new

video about Frotcom, presented in this edition of Roadmap. More videos will

follow, containing simple and to-the-point Frotcom tutorials.

This multi-front approach is enriching the

Frotcom experience and yes, we’ll have

more surprises soon.

Read all about it in Roadmap.

New Features

Adaptive Tracking – A new tracking experience

Adaptive tracking is an alternative to the “one-

position-a-minute” standard. It will send

positions when the vehicle makes a turn,

which also eases the reading of the path on

the map.

Adaptive Tracking will transmit data under the

following conditions:

1. With ignition ON

a) If the GPS receiver detects a turn > 30 degrees (the vehicle is turning);

b) Every 5 minutes if no turns are detected as described above.

2. With ignition OFF - Every 20 minutes.

Release of the new Europe Vicinity Roaming service

Europe Vicinity Roaming is a new roaming

option for Europe, in which the roaming is

limited to a total number of 6 countries,

usually around the company’s home

country.

All the companies which have the need for roaming limited to a vicinity of their

home country can benefit from this option.

Appointments Alarm has been improved

Frotcom has now an improved version of the

Appointments Alarm, where multiple instances

are configurable, both in time and mileage. It also

allows users to link their appointments to specific

entities (suppliers) and cost types available in

Frotcom’s Management module. This way, it is

possible, for instance, to know which vehicles

need to be inspected by a specific inspection

entity.

Did you know?

Frotcom goes

on a boat trip!

Until now Roadmap followers have

been used to reading words like

vehicle tracking or vehicle maps.

Today, we enlarge a little bit more

the horizon to let you know that

Frotcom embarked upon a sea

journey.

At the middle of August a boat left

the shore of Greece with a Frotcom

GPS tracker on board, traversing a

distance of 83 km in 2h13m. The boat

owner used Frotcom so that his

friends and family could follow his

trip.

On September 2nd Frotcom Spain

signed a sponsorship agreement

with Spanish FLS Rally Team.

The FLS Rally Team is formed by two

pilots, Roberto Ballesteros and

Ainhoa Sarasua, who although

young, already have a lot of

experience behind.

At the moment, the team drives a Renault Twingo R2 and a Peugot 207 THP.

The FLS team has a large track record of participations in various competitions,

both national and regional, as listed below:

The Catalan Championship of asphalt rallies

The Regional Catalan Championship of gravel rallies

The National Championship of asphalt rallies

The objectives of the team for this year are to compete in the Spanish Asphalt

Rally Championship integrated in the Challenge Renault Twingo R and to

achieve the maximum possible of clocked-up kilometers in all other

championships of the central region.

You can check the official page of the team, where you can find information

about the championships the team participated in, the results, members profile

and much more: http://flsteam.es.

Tip of the month

Associate a department with

places, vehicles, drivers or

trips in Frotcom.

Frotcom has made it possible for

users to associate departments to

places, vehicles, drivers or trips.

A new option “Departments” is now

available on the left column of the

Administration tab. By clicking this

option a departments table will

appear.

Then, by pressing the New

department button, the following

window will pop up for you to fill in:

It is now possible to generate some of

the reports for specific departments.
