Principals Message Term 1 Week 5 - 26th February 2020 It was wonderful to see such a nice turnout of students, parents, teachers and community members at our PLSP Breakfast. The purpose of the breakfast is to set achievable goals and opportunities for our ATSI students in class, the playground and about their culture. A huge thanks to Aunty Pauline for her organisation of the breakfast and all staff who supported the morning. Good luck to Kyden M and Mia-Rose R who will be representing the school and the Upper Hunter Zone at the Hunter PSSA Tennis trials held at Broadmeadow on Friday. We are positive you will represent us all with distinction and give your best efforts throughout the day. Student, Teacher and Parent conferences will be held in Week 10 this term. There will be information sent out in the coming days to book a time to sit with your teacher and child to discuss their learning goals and any information relevant to your child's learning. We look forward to seeing a great turnout for the conferencing. Congratulations to Mr Lindsell who is now a trained facilitator in Mental Health First Aid. Mr Lindsell has been working very hard on our Visual Wellbeing initiatives and our Positive Behaviour for Learning team over the past few years and it is great to have this resource now in our school. Mr Lindsell will be able to train other teachers and community members in the area of Mental Health. Our school leaders will be heading to Sydney on Monday 2nd March for the Youth Leadership Conference. This is a chance for our leaders to mix and network with other school leaders from across the state and hear some of the world's best entrepreneurs, writers, news readers and sports people. We are sure they will come back inspired from the day. Jonathan Russell Principal High School Information for Year 7 2020 Singleton High School is holding an Information Evening for Year 6 Next Tuesday 3rd of March, 4.45pm to 6.45pm in the MPC. Showing Positive Behaviour for Learning

Tawny congratulates our students for displaying our King Street Values of Kind, Safe, Proud and Supportive. Our Term 1 Week 4 Focus is ‘Tawny Tickets’.

S2M Challenge Mr Russell

S2M have been focusing on Addition and Subtraction strategies as part of their mathematics program. They

have been drilling basic number facts, which they do daily, timing their progress and keeping a record of their

performance as part of their success criteria.

S2M students put out an invitation for Mr Russell to have a race and they really got excited when he accepted

the challenge.

First they set him up with a broken pencil, (after all, all is fair in love and war, but he did notice before they

started and swapped it for a new one....)

There were 3 timed heats.

S2M performed strongly with the best time doing 25 addition sums in 29 secs, but Mr Russell beat them with a

time of 21 seconds.

Mr Russell kindly put out a further challenge saying he would offer a McDonalds lunch to any student who wants

a rematch and can beat him.... so stay tuned.

What a fantastic way to have fun with Maths!

King Street Public School Works Notification.

Our school will be in partnership with Children’s University Newcastle for 2020. This program is designed to connect children and families to learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Children are given a passport to learning and encouraged to find NEW learning experiences within their local and regional areas.

Children work towards logging the learning hours and are able to work through certificate levels based on hours of learning. All children who reach 30 hours for the year will be invited to attend a Graduation Ceremony with their family in Term 4.

Our KSPS Launch meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd March at 9.15am in the quad. Parents and careers are welcome.

families and our staff.

Thank you to our Aboriginal Education Officer, Aunty Pauline for organising such a great morning.

Thank you also to Eric and Mr Northey for cooking and the staff from Singleton High School’s Clontarf,

Girls Academy and Kawal Centre for your support.
