A message from the Acting Principal
Welcome to Term 3. We are looking forward to a very busy and productive term. Sue is on a well-deserved holiday to Thailand and Bali. She will be back at school this coming Monday. Thank you to Fiona Handel and Kim Lipari who have undertaken a week each covering my Assistant Principal role. Also a thank you to Judy Norton for the great job she continually does.
We have had a very busy start to term 3. Staff have been doing a lot of work preparing for SSG meetings. Shirley, Mel, Tracey and Pam in the office have also been busy rearranging the new storage area connected to the front office. They have been working back many nights to get this completed. Paul Kendal our facilities manager has also been of great help. I am sure Michael Aitken will be very impressed once he returns from holiday in Britain and Ireland.
Over the holidays our old administration area was turned into an office for our school psychologist, Dr Kylie Jackson. As Sue has mentioned in the past, the work that Kylie does with students and families is integral to the well-being of our school community.
I was very impressed at the school assembly this week. Some of the students from our music program performed to the whole school. They did an amazing job and were rewarded with a thunderous applause from the audience. The highlight for me was Brandon, one of the senior students singing ‘JAKE THE PEG’.
Lil Warner, one of our staff, will be off for the next three weeks as a result of surgery. We wish Lil a speedy recovery. Angela Petheram will take the class for the next three weeks. Angela has been a full time and a replacement teacher at Dandenong Valley for many years.
We would like to thank Spotlight in Fountain Gate who have donated two new Nintendo Wii Sports to the school. We are very grateful for this kind donation.
Finally, I would like to thank two staff who are unfortunately leaving our school. Debbie Yelde has worked at Dandenong Valley on and off for a couple of years now. Debbie is returning to England to live. Meera Ratanje (one of our talented speech therapists), will be leaving next Friday. Both staff will be missed by students and staff. I wish them the best for their futures.
