PowerTransmission and Distribution

Who We AreGiza Systems, a leading systems integrator in the MEA region, designs and deploys industry-specific technology solutions for asset-intensive industries such as the power, water, telecoms, oil and gas, transportation, and real estate to name a few. We cater to the various industries through our lines of business, which serve to address the unique needs of our clients.

Transmission & DistributionOur Transmission & Distribution (T&D) line of business has positioned itself as a major EPC in MEA providing a holistic scope of engineering, procurement, construction services testing and commissioning. Delivering a wide range of turnkey projects, our T&D line of business has deployed comprehensive solutions in the fields of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, and Real Estate, serving clients in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and East Africa.

CapabilitiesWith a steady growth in our client base all over the Middle East and Africa, we have established local and regional offices to respond to the demands of our clients, as well as leverage the company’s success and proven track record in the different sectors.

QualityGiza Systems strives to integrate quality in all its processes to ensure adherence to the best standards and practices. Giza Systems has received the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Industry IssuesThe Transmission and Distribution (T&D) market is growing exponentially with the demands placed on governments and utility organizations to upgrade and develop their infrastructure for transmitting and distributing the new generated power (MW) from different sources.

On a global scale, nations are heavily investing to achieve sustainability. The growing demand for power – coupled with decades of under-investment in upgrading and replacing ageing infrastructure – has generated a need to improve transmission and distribution efficiency, grids, and security.

With the long-term trends for the rise and proliferation of renewables, investments and overhauls of T&D infrastructure including networks, rehabilitation and expansion of transmission systems are necessary to improve efficiency, accelerate construction of distributed renewable generation, and reduce transmission losses.

What We Do

Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) - Live Installation

• Giza Systems with its highly qualified and certified calibers had successfully executed various optical ground wire (OPGW) replacement projects in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The installations took place under live line and offline conditions over the high voltage overhead transmission lines. The total length of the installed OPGW is around 3000 kilometers on overhead transmission lines up to 500 KV.

• Giza Systems utilizes the technology of live line installation to install the OPGW while the overhead transmission line is energized and without interrupting power supply.

• Giza systems owns a full set of stringing and splicing machines and tools that enable its team to deliver projects in a safe and professional manner.

• The OPGW contains a tubular structure with one or more optical fibers in it, surrounded by layers of steel and aluminum wire. The OPGW cable is run between the tops of high-voltage electricity pylons. The conductive part of the cable serves to bond adjacent towers to earth ground, and shields the high-voltage conductors from lightning strikes.

• The optical fibers can serve the electrical utility’s own purposes .. transmission line, voice and data communication, and may even be leased or sold to third parties to serve as a high-speed fiber interconnection between cities.

Sample Projects• Upgrading UE and ME zone, 220 KV OHTL, 1000 km OPGW, Live Line installation• Aswan - Nokra 66 KV OHTL - Live Line installation• Cental area 132 KV OHTL at KSA (5 links) - (250km)• OPGW 500 KV OHTL - Suez thermal• Yabou East - SWCC - 132 KV OHTL - 100 KM• Abou ElMatameer - Bostan 220 KV OHTL - 100 KM, Live Line installation

• Giza Systems is a market leader for the low sag high temperature conductor (Invar and GAP) projects.

• Our strategic partner is the inventor and manufacturing leader of low sag high temperature conductors.

• Our teams are highly qualified, having successfully implemented several projects for the update of high voltage overhead transmission line capacity.

• Team has the ability to execute the installation work, (partial live while one of the 2 circuits is energized).

• Giza Systems offers tower erection, conductor stringing and insulator installation services to major OHTL EPCs.

• HTLS is low sag conductor that carries up to double the capacity of ACSR aluminum conductors.

• No need to reinforce existing towers or build new towers, since HTLS conductors have almost the same weight and tension of a normal ACSR. They are the perfect solution when there is a challenge in new land acquisitions.

Sample Projects• Sadat - Cairo 500 KV, 220 KV OHTL, double circuit single

conductor• Sandob - Sembelawan and Belqas - Talkha 66 KV OHTL, double

circuit single conductor
