Reach of Your Podcast
Your reach will probably be larger in that you will reach people at different times of the day. When they are not normally at their computer.
While driving they can play your podcast.
While working out.
While walking the dog.

A podcast host is much like your websites host. This needs to be purchased in addition to your regular site host. The reason for this is because podcasts by their nature and digital size will really slow your site loading if you don't but when someone asks to listen to your podcast through a link on your site it will download from the podcast host server without affecting the speed of your site.
I use these guys:www.Buzzsprout.comThey are not an affiliate of mine but I love them. They relieved the pain of so many others that thought maybe no pain no gain. Great for the Non Techie. Try them first! Save the pain.

What are show notes?Show notes are many things: 1. A short keyword rich description of that episode should go here. 2. A transcript of your podcast is here for your listeners. 3. An opportunity to shine for the search engines. These notes should have all of the on page SEO performed that a post enjoys. Here is where a search engine can find the text of your episode in searchable form. 4. It should have a call to action. Find us on Twitter HERE. Find us on Facebook HERE. Sign up for our new course HERE... 5. Mention again as a call out the people you talked about, the products (affiliates link?), the other websites you mentioned. 6. Anything else that can aid your readers.Show notes need to be kept in mind when building a course, looking for material for e-books and of course Twitter and other needs.
Have show notes edited for grammar and the verbal pauses (uh)
Show Notes
Each show notes needs to be a separate page with a naming convention that addresses the
sequence number of your cast, the title and or subject matter or both.
Example: Show #1 Animals of the Desert: Rattlesnakes
This will show up in your page URL
Your Site
Hosts your show notes(excerpts of which should be used for Twitter feeds and Facebook posts)
Should have several episodes of your podcast linked to it. Mine are in a widget in the sidebar. Maybe a live link should also be in your show notes too.
Podcast Directories
Podcast directories get your podcast out to the public. The most famous is probably ITunes.
The more you sign up for the more exposure you can get.Keep in mind some have themes such as Christian podcasts. The only reason I bring this up is let us say you have a podcast that reviews slasher movies... bad fit. Each directory will have a place for podcast art, a show description and each episode description (think keyword rich). Save some time and use basically the same descriptions but maybe shift some keywords out every now and then.Only 1 podcast art for all and you may as well use ITune's criteria of 1400x1400-pixel JPG.
Go here for a listing of them:http://www.podcast411.com/page2.html
Show Preparation
Whatever notes you need to keep you on track. Some people need more notes and some need only a few.Approach your subject with SEO in mind. These don't count so much in the actual podcast but do in the show notes.Go over difficult to pronounce words and names. Practice Practice Practice!
