About MTSDMTSD includes:
❖ three elementary schools (4K-5), ❖ two middle schools (6-8)❖ one high school.
The schools range in size from approximately 400 students (Donges Bay and Oriole Lane Elementary) to approximately 1,300 students (Homestead High School).
The US Department of Education has additionally recently recognized Oriole Lane Elementary School (2017), as National Blue Ribbon School, the highest honor it bestows. Oriole Lane joins Lake Shore Middle School (2015) and Homestead High School (2004) as National Blue Ribbon Schools.

We all suffer from it
In the rush to solve problems quickly, we often fail to truly understand the problem itself. Too often these proposed solutions are not responsive to the conditions that actually define the problem or sensitive to the ways that the system contributes to or enables the problem.
The education field has a culture of solutionitis, constantly jumping to implement solutions before fully developing a clear sense of what is creating the problem.
The Actual Outcome
Focus on CI Principle One
• Moved out of the lab and into the field and observed people mopping floors in their home
• Found that users spent more time cleaning the mop than washing the floors
• Finally understood that the real problem was a need to make floor cleaning easier
• Solution was about the mop and not about the soap• New product was developed: The Swiffer
